I’d definitely take one of the rectifier road ready 4x12 cabs over these metal grille models, and really only because I’m a sucker for a matching set with my revision G.

Holy shit, not by a long shot. People always ask when they're going to bring these back. I think they're ugly as hell, and too fucking big. But what do I know.

Can't say about a Dual Recto, but I haven't found the Mark V particularly noisy with digital fx in front or in the loop. I had the Riverside up front with El Cap V2 and Flint V2 in the loop. No issues.

It’s all about gain staging. I’ve found rectos to be quite quiet amps, but that’s because I generally run the gain around noon and use a boost in front with a gate in front and in the loop.
Oh for sure..and they kinda corrected that on the Mark VII which seems to use an extra gain stage in the VII mode on ch2. But the Mark V's Mk1 and Tweed modes are cool enough that I'd miss them. For me, even when I dial the amp in specifically to make it work.... I don't really like the Mark I mode as much as Edge and Crunch. I just pretend it isn't there to be honest.
Nah; I think there will always be a market for this kind of amp.
I think Mk1 mode works best as a mid gain lead tone, and gets worse if you try to push too much gain into it. It really hogs the GEQ to get all that excess bass out of it, so it's hard to make it work together with the 3rd channel.
I think the problem is that manufacturers just don't make amps this complex anymore because people are fine with the typical 1-3 channel amp with not a lot of bells and whistles. Even the Mark VII cut out the single ended mode, rectifier options etc.
Interesting. I'm fat, crunch, MKIV. I don't need the gain of the Extreme mode.
I'm not sure about that to be honest. I think there's quite a few newer amps - say, in the last 5-6 years - that have a similar level of complexity. Revv Generator MKIII which has a 4 channel version, and then two 3 channel versions where you get the purple or red channels.... Diezel VHX.... what else?? I'm sure there's quite a few. But those are the two that spring to mind.
I'm always messing with my guitar volume and tone controls on any channel.
