That’s a deep dip at 750 - amazing he’s able to cut through.
I love the SD-1 into a Mark!Channel 2 Crunch, Gain at 6, Presence and Treble to taste and I hit it with a SD-1.

Bright switch mostly has an effect on the highs. He fucking cratered that slider.
I do notice he has the Bright switch on Ch. 3. ---which may help.
I also have to wonder what he was running in the Loop.![]()
These amps are super mid heavy. The 750hz slider all the way at minimum is not scooped, sonically.
Yep! Looks fairly standard though he sets his tone a little differently on the V than he does the JP2C. He did a full explanation of his settings and tone on this video for the JP2C back in 2016 after it released. This was a great starting point for me when I first picked up mine.So John Petrucci used to have his Mesa Mark V settings on his website, until it was redesigned to something boring that goes into much less detail.
I dug up the pictures via Wayback Machine and put them together, plus did a bit of color correction and brightening.
The "Additional settings" were marked only that, I think they are from his "smaller" one rack tower, two amp "B-rig".

The 750 slider in the photo is still above the line though. Once you go lower it’s super noticeable as you quickly get into tone loss, but above the line still sounds really good with the amp at volume. He fucking cratered that slider.

Yes. that's the stuff right there.
Thoughts on the Alnico Cream and Redback? The Redback sounds pretty dark in every demo I've heard, but might be a good "pair it with something brighter" speaker.Purchased this Mark V 90 a few years ago new. Playing it through a couple home built 1x12’s with an Alnico Cream and a Redback.
It’s a great match for both the Mark V and a Ceriatone OTS FM 100 watt which is a bright amp. But I wouldn’t say the Redback is dark, just more smooth with big bottom end.Thoughts on the Alnico Cream and Redback? Good lord $1700.Split Back 4x12 | Mesa/Boogie
Black Bronco vinyl covered 4x12 Split Back mono (8 ohm) or stereo (2x 4 ohm) cabinet with two Celestion C90 speakers (in an open back chamber on top) and two Celestion Vintage 30 speakers (in a sealed, ported chamber below), metal grille, 300W power handling, 8 ohm impedance, Track-Loc casters...www.mesaboogie.com
This seems like a product nobody asked for. IMO that grille thing looks pretty awful and the only reason you would buy it because it's still a Mesa cab, and maybe cheaper than the more popular models.Split Back 4x12 | Mesa/Boogie
