It’s the mini Mesa stack of doom!

I rarely get FOMO or feelings of gear inadequacy, until there’s a Mesa Mark thread.

When ya getting that JPIIC? :hmm

Or you holding out to be one of the elite 200 RI royalty

My very slightly modded blue stripe simul class came out to play tonight. Promoted to the main stage and inspired by this thread.

That’s a Tokai in Eb and yeah…it was a good time.

Studio pre sitch sucks but when you got that just lying around I’d say that softens the blow immensely :love

Spent the last hour or so just really giving the thiele the business from the IV :love so glorious

I was auditioning amps through both the widebody and thiele together. V sounded awesome… unfortunately the IV kinda needs a decent amount of volume to not sound like a buzzy poo, so running both cabs together in the apartment wasn’t really working. However, just going into the thiele and popping the attenuator on my captor in between was pure bliss :satan:satan:satan

NGL the studio preamp is hard to justify with this III sounding SO CLOSE to it. Had one of those moments tonight where it was hard to stop playing, and that happens a lot with this amp.

I really need to dust mine off, the Syn2 I just got came with a IICP module which I was thinking of picking up too but it's not technically a mark I guess. I should grab a longer speaker cable too so I can run it through one of my cabs since I have a ton of random stuff stacked on top of it. (the MKIV that is)

Remind me which 2x12 you are using there? I’ve been tempted by the recto 2x12 but have a love hate thing with the V30s.

That’s a Recto with a Boogie badge, got it brand new last summer for close to half price, and yes, V30s. I love V30s with my Dyne, still need to see how they are with the VII at band volumes.

Might sound nuts, but there’s a noticeable sound difference with the smaller Boogie logo covering less of the speakers. (I have a second Recto 2x12 with the bigger Mesa one.)

Ideally, I’ll snag either the RI or the JP2C in January (if the RI’s are shipping by then), but I’m also starting to plan my exodus from Florida to move back to New England and it’d be wiser of me to not buy more gear I won’t be utilizing in Florida.

I think I’m going to list my Shiva soon and try to get rid of it, if I can cover half the cost of a new amp with that I’m more likely to get one.

Don't make me want a VII too damnit!

I still think the V is Randall/Mesa's peak. Not every band/artists last album was their best, right? :idk

I also believe the VII is a Gibsonified Mesa with pared down features, in a smaller enclosure. It
just smells of someone along the way pinching pennies and then crunching numbers to see
how much could be saved on parts/assembly over the long-term to increase bottomline profitability.

I am not writing a Doctoral Thesis on it, though. Yet.
