TGF Do Something Challenge Season 8 Week 1

Your music is definitely outside my wheelhouse, as they say.. however I find it reminiscent of this style - which I love !

This track is superb! Thanks for sharing it.

After listening to how good your track and the others sounded, I decided to clean up a problem in my mix, and I'm happier. There was some muddy crap from a synth and a reverb that was screwing up the feel. On a second listen I think it'll sound better.

Continuing the Queensrÿche Empire theme. This tune is a blast to play, chunk out... with its string-skipping and pedal tones (G,D,A,E).

All guitars including intro solo. Partial.

Queensrÿche - One And Only

backing track:

If I played for a thousand years I'd never be able to do what you do with a guitar. Man!

I need to slink back to my piano and hide now. :bag

All right, you guys got me to do something...

I'm in the midst of renovating my studio, and I've been checking old drives and just listening to stuff I've recorded over the years. This is a remix of a song I recorded back in 2002 (!) as part of a solo album I recorded.

I didn't have a lot of stuff back then that I've got now - I was using Acid Pro back in those days, but I've since switched over to Reaper in the past 5 years or so. So I had to open my old copy of Acid and export a lot of comped vocals and string tracks and such (the Acid mix was about 25 tracks, including 3 lead vocal tracks (comped to 1), 4 tracks of backgrounds (comped to 2), and I had to build the drum tracks with individual WAV files (8 tracks) which I replaced with a quick MIDI track from EZDrummer. So I basically cut the number of tracks in half for the remix.

Just a rough mix. I'm probably going to re-cut the lead vocal at some point (there are a couple of drops in there), and I'll actually build a drum track in EZD using my Samplepad. But for now, this is what it sounds like.

Sorry for the wordy post.
