He checked out with an "Ocelot Lite" scheme that extends past 65"

Got the Custom off for Eddie G. of Eva Under Fire off this morning... I've seen in a couple of rock videos, they are super-physical band it seems, so I did double stitch extra robust job for this fella's thunder-pumper. Though I'm told often my regular work is twice most others in strength. Real long, nice padding and my special heavy duty 3" wide custom sliding buckle hardware that's way stronger than any other I've seen. Black denim, heavy-duty faux vinyl, with a velvety underbelly.

Here's a story... last night I got a really nice note from a fella in San Fran. About a year ago he picked up a Velociraptor and a No Prisoners series strap. Here's most of his message:
"...each is more beautiful, unique, more comfortable, and even more cool than my expectations (which were high). I actually play MORE guitar since then. My neck-shoulders-chronic-discomfort disappears, the straps feel so good it’s a treat to hang em on me period, and - unprecedented! My guitars look even better with these straps attached. The combos magnetically pull me over to grab it. Your note, the free, unexpected and excellent extras were icing on the cake. That right there, frankly, is why I do this. To know that my work, all my years of product design, development and craft in putting these straps together actually helps real guitar people get extra enjoyment out of their instruments? Well, that just really puts spring in my step. I keep saying here my guitar straps are different. I show them here, I show lots of feedbacks, but really - I KNOW they are something quite out of the ordinary and that a few fellas here get it. Just something you have to try to believe. OH, after he sent that message? He ordered 2 more - now on the way!

Anyway, enough chest-beating, how about another Friday Suno song? I wrote these lyrics, not genius, but clever enough. A bunch of damn robots made the music - Sorry about the harsh intro, sometimes that stuff happens, but I REALLY dig what came out after asking for an upbeat britpop flavour - pretty hooky. Pisses me off that I could spend three days trying to build this, and it probably would still suck, because the vocals really carry it. Plug it into a computer: BAM! Shat out in seconds. One of those metaphor songs... you'll figure it out pretty quick.

What a crazy week it's been, First thing in the shop, i slice the tip of my thumb off again with the box knife. That's fun. Then, much of the rest eaten up by hospital trips for my dad, and we live in a remote area. The closer hospital is not his favourite so he wants the longer drive. LOL! Then, yesterday, I nuked my coffee too long, and burnt my lip so bad it had a nasty blister on for much the day, and rather painful too I must say! Still has skin flapping around today. Yuck!

But, I got a new tooling project started... Pieces cut... and put into the moisturizing bucket

computer graphics work and printed on acetate for tracing

And a lot of beveling work today...

Though this kind of screams for a lot of colour, the customer wants it more low key and in brown tones to match his instruments better. So, no paint but I'm going to stay all in monochrome but with some highlights and dark bits. So resist painting tonight on some spots I want to stay light.

Jethro in Saskatoon got his new used explorer in and chose his Well-Hung "Ammunition" custom for it.
( I took some creative liberties with the pic he sent in LOL - he deserves the rock star treatment).

Also, a pretty decent match here with a Gretch out in North Carolina and the Swamp Bottom Python

Alice continued today... late last night did a very light yellow dye coat, resisted the items I wanted to stay light. This morning, after some decorative cuts added, I commenced straight to antiqueing.
I sometimes do this, using the antique as a main die for the whole piece. It comes in many shades, I have four or five here. This is the lightest shade called "Tan" and you just goop it on, rub it in with a toothbrush grind 'er into all the cuts, wait a few beats, then just wipe it off, and buff out.

Turned out pretty nice.

Brings out the detail, looks nice once it's all buffed. Man sometimes these extreme close-ups make me cringe a bit,\
but in real life size it looks better. I don't really consider myself a top level leather tooling guy, but I do ok for the \
price point I charge. The top end work can get CRAZY expensive, and depending on the subject, very worth it for
the sheer artistry alone - really what I'm doing here is more like trace and transfer

Let the antiquing dry and sit for a couple of hours, then, I dyed the edges, and burnished them to a smooth shine.

Lastly it's going to sit oiled with neatsfoot which draws the colour a little deeper, and I will clearcoat tonight,
prior to assembly and stitching tomorrow, and another few coats of clear over the weekend.

This is a fun photo, Paul in the GTA gets the rockstar treatment for sending in a photo...
He tells me this was taken when his band "Barstool Confession" was opening for Sam Roberts at an arena show last weekend.

He wanted to mention the tele he's wearing is kind of special - says the top wood is made of the dressing room floorboards of the El Mocambo in Toronto, before being ripped out and refinished... I've never been but I understand basically that would be kind of like Canada's Filmore? Or maybe more like the Whiskey? So, in actuality, a genuine who's who of rock royalty have actually walked on his instrument over the years! He noted it was built by Garen Dakessian, of Loucin Guitars. It's pinned on a Well-Hung Prophecy strap

Send in your performance photo wearing your Well-Hung sling, maybe I'll give you the "rockstar photoshop treatment too!

Another thing I'm working on in the background, might be of particular interest to any Canuckians or history buffs here on this forum... A fellow asked if I could undertake one as a custom job for him, and it works very very well! Maybe next week I'll try to cook a few more of these up.

Little nod to Canada's fur trade history

Got a cool photo back from a customer... this EB/MM Kaizen looks something like a guitar I might have sketched out in my school scribbler as a 15 year old... ok quite a bit better LOL!
Phil's got an older sling, a polka dot on it, looks pretty class to me!

Been going back and forth with Josh, looking for something custom... he wants a bit of a western flavour with big turquoise conchos, in my Class Act design, and I'm going to work in an inset of hair on cowhide, contrasting stitching and a much more western looking buckle.

We finally settled on a similar coloured suede, to the light parts of the cow fur. I'll be working on this one this afternoon...
here's as far as I got - the trick here is to cut out the frame for the fur inset out of the leather with a razor knife.
New sharp blade and a steady hand. This will be the backside, the suede side on the other is what will show.

Watch the reverb store for "Constrictor" if you are interested - coming probably to the store later today.
One only, pretty wild snakey pattern, with a bit of shine .... nicely padded 46-56

The custom for Josh, I'm calling Trail Boss, is complete and should be on the way tomorrow.
This one was a bit of a mind-bender, the first time I have tried this style/design...(or my take on it anyway).
There are several differences on this from my typical build. Getting the inset centered
down the very middle was one of the challenges. I didn't get it perfect, but not too bad.

Overall this strap has a dressy western elegance to it, but also more casual/workingman due to the use of chap suede on the outside.
I've seen this design with two layers of the same finished leather, but tooled borders on each and it was really over the top country cool.
Maybe that's something I can aspire towards someday.

Oil tanned suede upper, hair-on cowhide inset, conchos, contrasting stitching... Cowboy style is almost never wrong!

A western-styled buckle at the back end, My Class Act design... protected from guitar contact - and the pass-thru tail strap. Simple, not super expensive hardware from Tandy, but it's sturdy quality. I'm not sure how other strapmakers would approach the inside pad/lining of this... I had to put a LOT of padding on the inside, build around the screwback assemblies of the conchos so they don't jut out and dig into the customer's back. I fear perhaps many others wouldn't go near as far as I did in order to make them indiscernible.

Biggest problem with this strap is finding a hat and belt to match!

New in the store a couple of rare Velociraptors, in my Class Act back buckle format, with the pass thru on the end that protects your instrument. Found this beautiful hide online, and I'll be making some ladder straps out of it later, but I had two longer pieces so I figured it was time to drop a couple of new Class Act straps in the store. Kind of a pain to make, but a total breeze to adjust! Don't even have to remove your guitar.

3" wide and padded in the shoulder just like my others, with the rolled edges too. And a light tan like this is something I don't
work with too often. But when I think about it, these are similar to black straps in that they will float nicely between MANY different
guitar finishes. All kind of bursts, Easter egg fenders, acoustics, BSB, CSB, whatever you throw on it, might be epic!

I made a pair of these, same hide but the other one is just a bit busier than this one. Though I really like the simple elegance of the mega reptile pattern. This stuff has a nice semi-gloss shine to it and is easy care.

Both of them adjust between 44"-57, one of them goes maybe a bit longer. But 57" is about 6 inches longer than most store-bought ladder type straps. Good to know if you suffer feeling shorted by store straps and always end up with them on the last loop, and they're STILL too short!

I have a list of straps in my head I WANT to make, just can't seem to get there because of a nice little run of custom work! Case in point, These two 1969 ribbon on leather padded 3-inchers in my Class Act back buckle format for a multi-repeat customer, Mil.

These ship out to Georgia tomorrow, after I punch them for straplocks. The sad thing is, he says after this pair, all of his guitars will be Well-Hung. I told him a far as I knew, they are still making new guitars and even putting them in stores LOL!!!

Photo and reverb feedback from Dave in West Virginia... he's been searching for THE ONE for his Gretsch. I believe he thinks he finally found it, can't really argue!

Lastly, I think this might be my final custom job for a little bit, slated for Thursday. However, I wanted to pre-prep the leather and have it ready for assembly as these dye and finish jobs typically take four or five days, to get the components ready, so I actually started on this yesterday.

He was just going to pick up the Mid-Evil strap on the right, but I didnt' think it would work.
You can't see it in the pic here, but the completed strap on the right is way too blue,
not enough green for that rather magical Guild Crater Blue metallic finish -

I added a two layers of blue/green dye mix after a light dye of my regular blue then darkened it all down with black. Though you can't see it in the pic below, I think I may have nailed it to the wall!

Boy-oh-boys, this Mid-Evil strap is a terrible seller, but one of my very favourite straps to make and wear.
It's such an original and unique design, so much texture and still macho without being too cowboy or heavy metal.

New in the shop is "Brackodile" a brand new colour I just invented. LOL!

Consider it the darkest brown possible, with huge oval scales bursted to reveal
a walnutty brownside. Befitting the sort of beast that might emerge from the most
brackish nasty swamp waters imaginable.

In short it's real hard to take a photo of, particular because it has a very glossy finish.

Padded, 3" wide perfect for that weighty vintage dark burst.

Troy, whom I mentioned above with the Guild, sent me back a picture of his a previous purchase.
He asked me for something that would sit nice, but different on a goldtop. Toadaso!

He left me a nice reverb feedback, but you know what? The best compliment possible, one that'll really make my day? He orders up another!

New in the store today is "Safari" - actually two of them -

Kind of hybrid of two of my popular lines "1969" and "Wild Things." It's 3" wide, black leather, padded, and both of the go pretty long. One goes to 58" max, the other as far as 62" if you need that extra room to express yourself on stage. This strap will give your rig a little "RAWRR!"-factor

REVERB STORE NOTE - I will be traveling for a few days, so after tonight I'm shuttering the store down for little bit. If you need to contact me, I'll be checking in. If you're interested in custom work, when I return I'll have a fairly clean slate, so there would be little wait time. Also, so far I don't believe any recent trade barriers affect the price you pay, but that may be subject to change. All in all, customers in a better to place to compare my work with that of other makers continue to mention to me I could probably ask more for the level of product and service I supply. However, as it stands right now, I have no plans to raise prices.

Today it's the red and black attack!

Reverb store is back open, the shop is once again inundated with the glorious aroma of dangerous glue solvents, and other various noxious odors LOL!

new off the bench today... a pair of straps I call "Crusader" - actually picked up this side of gorgeous hot red leather on my travels, put some of it to it to work on the first day back

These metal gothic crosses are attached with five rivets, sitting on croc embossed strips.
all came togther quite nice. Padded, long, stitched comfy and strong!

Got a nice photo back from Dennis in Quebec... he's a relatively new player, taking up Bass later in life than most, but he's having fun. As a bigger fella, he couldn't find a store strap long enough -

A brand new design style emerges... well actually I made a custom similar earlier in the year, but liked the effect, and learned some stuff... figured I'd add it to my strapertoire - I plan to make a good number of these, in various colours and configurations, and it's a nice way to use up a fun bunch of bits and pieces I've saved over the years. Will totally undertake custom versions to compliment any special instrument you might have.

Calling it the Well-Hun "Oh Gee!" series basically it's a resurrection of the retro-style 50's, bringing back a vibe I don't will command attention these days, works particularly well with all those musty old guitars you fellas have, and your hipster grandpa sweaters LOL!

I envision this one particularly great for a silverburst type... battleship grey leather, with some embossed skulls on the main diamond, and two shiny patent leather diamonds top and bottom.

All 3" wide, rolled over edges, and padded in the typical Well-Hung way, with plenty of extra length too. 44-59! That's about 8 inches more than you'll get of out many typical strap manufacturers. Heavy leather nose ladder and tail strap in black. It's wide, long, comfy and strong, ready to draw out your inner badass, no matter how hard you try to hide it.

Speaking of musty old guitars forum brother elsewhere randomly posted online other day, proclaiming his joy out of nowhere! Thanks my friend! Deeds like this are why he has become an exemplary Well-Hung Tribal Warrior! He says his junior is a '58, and he's got it hanging on a Well-Hung "Shock & Awe" strap he picked up several years ago. It's my hope when this guitar is shown off in 2085, this same strap will also still be at work with it.

Happy Friday, how about a Suno tune? I wrote the lyrics back in 1995, and Suno found a raspy gal to sing it for me. Funny thing, the lyric was written "usin'" not "oozing" but these programs do that sometimes. Still, I thought it turned out pretty good overall with that meth'd up chick sangin' a pretty decent performance. The slide guitar is pretty convincing too

Stickin' with the OG series for a bit. "Badlands" and "Uptown" feature the retro-style diamond pattern with a bit of brightwork for accent.

Both of these on the most elegantly glossy black leather I've ever worked with. Kinda fun, sexy
and perfect for those real glossy black rigs and that fancy-pants high paying gig most of you only probably dream of LOL!

Both are 3" wide, cadillac padded, rolled edges and non slip linings. approx 45-59" (LONG!!)
The "Uptown" one will be in the Reverb Store tomorrow, "Badlands" up right now. One only on each of these.

This format is highly customizable with all kinds of leathers if you fancy becoming an OG warrior!
