Synergy Owners Thread

I just joined the Syn club with a 20IR and a SLO-II. Thus far I'm really enjoying the sounds I'm getting. The SLO-II has so much gain, I haven't found the need to go past 11 o'clock on the gain knob. The clean channel of the 20IR is nice. The ToneKing module is on my radar.
The dislike of el84's is interesting. I don't mind them in my Laney Lionheart. They have a cool compression that works for edge of breakup sounds.
The 20IR is doing something so they sound more open. Thus far I'm happy with the Synergy setup. I'm still honeymooning, but the versatility will likely keep this thing around for a couple of years at least.

Speaking of the IICP module; I seem to recall that I've read about some heat issues when this module is used with a SYN-1. Anyone with experience with this combination?

(I have a SYN-1, you see)

Yep. The issue I had was that after about 50 minutes of playing, the Lead drive would start to bleed into the clean channel. Went through 3 modules with Sweetwater before I finally discovered that it did not happen in the SYN-2 when I left space above and below the rack unit, providing plenty of ventilation. The SYN-1 has the tube right under the module slot, I think that adds to heat problem and you just can't get enough ventilation. Oddly, it doesn't happen to all the IICP modules - Leon Todd does not have this issue with his. But my 3 all did it.

I had that one with my previous Synergy setup and it had the sound. My only issue with it was that the graphic is so tiny it can be hard to get exactly where you want a particular slider. Tiny moves make a big difference.
It's definitely a pain to get it dialed in and keep it that way. Eventually for me I got used to it, and can redial it by ear pretty quickly now.
