Synergy Owners Thread

I just joined the Syn club with a 20IR and a SLO-II. Thus far I'm really enjoying the sounds I'm getting. The SLO-II has so much gain, I haven't found the need to go past 11 o'clock on the gain knob. The clean channel of the 20IR is nice. The ToneKing module is on my radar.
The dislike of el84's is interesting. I don't mind them in my Laney Lionheart. They have a cool compression that works for edge of breakup sounds.
The 20IR is doing something so they sound more open. Thus far I'm happy with the Synergy setup. I'm still honeymooning, but the versatility will likely keep this thing around for a couple of years at least.

I know this question has been beaten to death but:
Is there a current consensus as to which module(s) have the tightest low end for a 7 string guitar (standard tuning)?

Speaking of the IICP module; I seem to recall that I've read about some heat issues when this module is used with a SYN-1. Anyone with experience with this combination?

(I have a SYN-1, you see)

Yep. The issue I had was that after about 50 minutes of playing, the Lead drive would start to bleed into the clean channel. Went through 3 modules with Sweetwater before I finally discovered that it did not happen in the SYN-2 when I left space above and below the rack unit, providing plenty of ventilation. The SYN-1 has the tube right under the module slot, I think that adds to heat problem and you just can't get enough ventilation. Oddly, it doesn't happen to all the IICP modules - Leon Todd does not have this issue with his. But my 3 all did it.

I had that one with my previous Synergy setup and it had the sound. My only issue with it was that the graphic is so tiny it can be hard to get exactly where you want a particular slider. Tiny moves make a big difference.
It's definitely a pain to get it dialed in and keep it that way. Eventually for me I got used to it, and can redial it by ear pretty quickly now.

I kind of got used it when I had it, but I tend to like different settings on the EQ for less and rhythm.

I've owned the Syn20IR and the SLO II for a little over a week. I love the sounds I can get out of this combination. The high gain sounds are chewy but the edge of breakup sounds are also excellent. The 'cleanish' range is very small, but it is accessible. The Synergy ecosystem is phenomenal. Debating as to which module will be next in my cart.

Uberschall incoming! Should have it by early next week.

I think people are really sleeping on the DRECT module. It's quite literally all 4 of the best Recto modes in one unit, they should advertise it as such. With the gain rolled back below 9 o'clock, the vintage mode becomes a perfect Lone Star style clean sound, and the Modern mode becomes a pushed clean.

Received the Uberschall today. It has the sound I was hoping for. Recorded two rough tracks for a new tune I'm working on. It definitely has more low note articulation vs the SLO. Not knocking the SLO, the chewy gain is awesome but a little looser then the Uber.
Loving the Synergy stuff!

I really like the Lonestar clean. I need to take a look art the DRECT.

Uberschall is one I am considering for a different tone when recording. I’m happy with the Killer Kali as part of the live rig, and my other amps for recording include 2 Mesas, Mk IIC+, JP2C, and an EVH EL34 50w. Looking for something else that has a tight deep tone with a different voice, and have a hunch that might be a nice alternative. What do you think?

I wanted the Kalli but they weren't in stock, so I chose the Uberschall. It definitely does justice to the low notes on my 7 string. I understand there is quite a bit of crossover between the high gain preamps. I wonder if there will be enough difference between the Kali and the 'schall.
