Synergy Marshall JMP

That might be their best sounding module yet
Even the Fluff video sounded great

I need to watch that one, I have not seen his yet. IMO, Studio Rats, Fluff, & @GuitarJon , are the best ones on stuff like this.

If Synergy & Marshall did a Plexi with a 2203 on the second channel that would be the SHIT!

Paul from Studio Rats is the best one I think that guy makes everything sound like gold
And Sonic Drive

Paul's playing is phenomenal! Plus it's nice to watch his videos without getting the cringey feeling. Fluff & Guitarjon dont give me the creepy feels either. I guess that's why I enjoy their videos the best.

I forgot about our Leon @2112 , his videos are awesome too and some of my favorites.

Maybe it’s explained in the videos, but the thing that confuses me about this is how much of the JMP sound comes from the power amp. How is that handled here?

I love the idea, but I’m having a hard time believing the magic is really in there

Your observation is valid, for all the modules being offered.

Probably no better or worse than (pick any top tier modeler) and running it through the return on the effects loop of a good tube amp and cab.

A healthy portion of vintage Marshall tube power amp magic comes from the phase inverter, but the JTM still excludes the power tubes, output transformer, and the OT's impedance interaction with the speaker(s)/cab(s), unless of course you run it into a tube power section and cab.

Like the all tube Rocktron Plexi, I'm guessing the Synergy JMP provides a 0W phase inverter simulating post tube stage to crush, which brings back some but not all of the magic. If going DI'd you can of course you can bring a lot of the missing magic back with impedance curve and cab/speaker IR's, or use the real deal.

Overall what's missing is subtle in the big picture (complete tone and FX in a mix etc), and the Synergy JTM should sound excellent, just as my Rocktron Plexi did (AFAIK they're similar in scope excepting the global Synergy Sag Control, and the Rocktron Plexi's switchable additional gain stages).

Yea. Now that the Fractal VP4 has a speaker/ cab block I’ve boxed up the UA Ox Stomp for sale and started using the VP4. It is a near perfect pair.
If Cliff would put the impeadance curve from the Fractal amp block into the Cab block of the VP4 it would be permanently attached to my Synergy 20-IR

I have it in my head they will come up with something as a Mk II that will include the latest power amp modeling and IR features. Waiting on that. For now, the Syn20 head is my boy...

Yeah I’ve seen that rumored for a SYN2 refresh, but I don’t know how legit it is. Would make a lot of sense though, since they’ve already done the development of the digital backend for the IRX/SYN20/X88 etc.

This seems like the way to go for me.

The impedance curve is a variable and part of the amp block in Fractal stuff, however there are various impedance curve IR's you can run in series with a cab IR (Redwirez had some that I used back in the day), or try mix the impedance curve and cab IR's if only one cab block.
