Stuff

I like the OD-1X, the DS-1X, and the Source Audio Kingmaker.

I got to spend almost an hour with an OD-1X and an OD-3 plugged into a fender twin reverb.

The OD-1X is passable while playing with a band. But "it feels weird to the fingers and ears while playing alone." I don't know how else to put it.

I enjoyed the OD-3 but wish that it also had a bass knob. It got lost in a mix while playing with a band.

We all have our preferences. The OD-1X is absolutely going to be unfamiliar, because it's different. Some people like me can get into that. Some prefer not to.

I'm sure it depends on the band and the music. I have seen a lot of OD-3s at live shows over the last 30+ years.

I loved my OD-3 but I had the same problem with the lows. A simple mod on the pedal circuit can solve it. If you are still interested, let me know, and I will look for the mod I made.

I tried both at a friend's place. I don't own the pedal, and my friend has never modifying anything. Still I am relieved to know that modified OD-3s do exist, so that the bass can be dialed out with a knob added to the pedal. I didn't know that a pedal can be drilled to add knobs, without destroying the circuit board.

Thank you.

I modded my od-3 for less gain/more clarity by removing one capacitor (or resistor, I'm not home right now so I'd have to look).
No knobs needed and I like it more for my style.
