I Think You Should Leave Tim Robinson GIF by NETFLIX

As much as I dig my GX-100, using it in 4CM is not its strong suit. It’s doable for sure but it’s a pain to get setup correctly and even then I’m not sure the juice is worth the squeeze.

Straight into an "FRFR" though it’s a blast?

4.2ms. That is what it feels like. Feels like playing an amp sim on my computer. Its not crazy high latency, but just enough to feel.

Also, let's not forget how long sound travels through air. And how long electrical signal travels from ear to brain. And how long brain take to process the signal. It runs at miserable 200 Hz! Not even ASIO4ALL can help that thing.
Literally unplayable!

I only play by plugging speaker cable directly into my spinal cord near the brain stem.
Not recommended with tube amps.

So how did the GT1000 turn out long term in 4cm?

I think the limitation is that there wouldn't be any boosts that I like more than my pedals, so even if it works well I would still be using a pedal.

The only thing I lament going back to an analog front is losing the built in noise suppressor.

I liked it at the time. Form factor is perfect, very easy to move around and setup, switches and pedal are well-placed for live use. Easy enough to work on, setting up patches and editing, from what I remember. I only did a few band practices with it, I think, before moving it on. Never gigged it.

Felt good in 4cm, not detached or muffled, I don't think, and no extra noise or hum (unlike the FM9, which was awesome but had significant hum in 4cm and needed a Hum Exterminator). Also, the GT1000 amp channel switching worked with my Electra Dyne with no ground hum, unlike the Helix Floor and HX Effects, which were unusable without snipping the ground on the TRS cable.

But overall I don't think I found the effects super-inspiring and missed a lot of Helix and/or Fractal stuff.

Yeah, I've used 4cm with HX Effects, Helix Floor, FM3, FM9, and GT1000, but I think I'm done with it, at least for now. My new analog in front + VP4 in loop is the best sounding board I've ever had by far, very happy with it. Still technically 4cm, but not with an all-in-one digital unit.
