Strung up !

Howdy all wishing ya'all a Happy Sunday and those attending the Metal Church
So after some testing between EB and NYXL strings (9.5-44) I can say for my preference it's the NYXL by a country mile
They sound better, feel better and keep their tone longer.
What chu all Strung up with these days ?

Any type of inexpensive 9s from D'addario will do for me.

20 years with Dean Markley Blue Steels. Man, I want to try a pack of Blue Steels again,

Blue Steels sound like the brand of cigarettes nuns would smoke in Ireland.

I’ve been a D’Addario user exclusively since the early 90’s. Tried the NYXL’s and will occasionally throw a set of them on if they’re on sale or if I’m given a set. They’re great, but 99% of the time I just use the EXL’s. 10-46, 9-46, and 9-42. 45-100 on bass.

Was running 9-42 for a couple years, then up to 9.5-44 for a year, now generally running 10-46. The guitars seems to like a little higher tension, it makes for less buzz and more sustain, and my fingers don't mind the little bit of tension either.

For strings I don't notice big differences across brands. I've generally been using D'Addario XL. I have the opposite of corrosive sweaty hands so my strings rarely have issues, it's more that they slowly go dead from fretting and bending.

This weekend I put on new sets on two guitars as an experiment. On my Epiphone ES-335 which has a Vibrola, the 10-46 had too much buzz so I went up the 11-49 NYXL as they were on sale. I think the Vibrola on this guitar makes the string tension lower because even the 11's don't feel that stiff.

On my Telecaster I put a set of 10-46 DR Pure Blues. They feel and sound great, this guitar is pretty bright as a Tele but the strings have a real solid tone to them. I may try and get a couple other sets to put on other guitars to see how they sound.
