Strat set up no no !

You match the radius with the strings. The saddles need to provide a parallel seating for stability.
To be fair, unless the slots in the saddles are super shallow, the string is still just sitting in a very slightly shallower cradle, effectively.
 
Why not? From the EBMM site:

"The top of the strings should have the radius of the fretboard when you are looking at the strings in the playing position and by rotating the instrument while at the same time bringing strings into view one at a time."

It was brand new. In defence of it the neck alignment was a jolt and easy fix but the saddles??
It also now plays great and sounds great at least the equal of a 50s original with far better playability.
