Stephen Carpenter Rig Rundown

I got confused at this part; does the AxeFX 2 not have Scenes? I only jumped in with the III, but what he was describing with the Snapshots is exactly what Scenes do in a Fractal unit.
Honestly, it's nowhere near as good as the Helix. Even on the Axe3.

Honestly, based on that video I wouldn’t expect him to have much awareness of the finer points of the devices. The Helix was more than likely just the first piece of gear he tried that had something gapless and he just ran with it.

Well, I saw his interview on Rock Feed that gave some insight into his issues with modeling (dude was updating firmware before shows and constantly revising his presets from scratch, rather than working with what he had existing) and by his own measure, he’s got a surface level understanding of gear to begin with and no real desire to learn more. You’d just think one of his techs would be like “Yeah dude, we can do that with any modeler now”

Seems like real amps just remove a lot of headaches and unnecessary doubt, where amps just ARE the thing he’s looking for while any modeller would ultimately come with the same doubts when in use.

He seems to be accepting of modellers and happy to use them when necessary (and can get something serviceable) but it’s not a preference, especially when they have the means to take his dream amps on the road.

I'm still disappointed that he's a flat-earther (according to that other thread). Deftones were one of the most important bands to me growing up, so I love them — but what the fuck?!

plus they don’t have to fly that monster rig internationally.

I was kinda confused about that as well.

I was at first too, but he added "without a gap" with all of the Helix's attributes, so maybe that was it? Does the III have any gaps between scenes?

I couldn’t care less what their personal beliefs are for the most part. Especially silly stuff like that. I really like them too. Fantastic band. He could believe the moon is hollow and still play their music a lot and I’d still buy this guitar like I did a few months ago. 😁 Great baritone guitar by the way.

We’re definitely in a new world when a metal guitarist almost feels like he has to justify the preference of playing of an actual amp. :ROFLMAO:

He’d haul monster rack rigs into clubs way back before they even had a big following and it felt like it was peeling paint off the walls. :ROFLMAO: I can see why he still wants that sort of live energy.
