With what amp(s)?

I find that Golds are too bright and harsh with Marshall style amps, but absolute perfection with Vox style amps.

For Marshalls, Greenbacks all the way.

Let me see back it woulda been…
Modded and unmodded JMPs, Fryette Deliverance, sig x, Memphis, mesa t-verb, Rivera KH, and of course couple of THDs like Plexi, Flexi and Univalve.

It also depends on the cab, like I never like H30s until I had them in an oversized open back.

Plus back then I ran all amps hard enough so the power section compressed pretty good when I didn’t slave them anyways.

Creamback 65’s or EVH-GB20’s are my go to’s for Marshall. GB variants obviously. I’d love a hybrid with CB-75 lows/tightness and the mids and highs of the EVH or CB-65.

V30’s sound pretty good to me live and on the stage mix. I think there is a reason Friedman and Bogner choose the CB-65 in their products.

Interesting video @GuitarJon especially since I have a Fireball 25 myself! Something I’d be super interested in would be hearing a comparison between the live miced speaker and an IR captured from the same setup.

Also as a FB25 owner I’d like to hear the IR both through your fave reactive load and with the FB25’s internal (resistive?) load. So a three way comparison.

Most of the time I play my amp with monitors or headphones through my HX Stomp with IRs and to me it would hopefully alleviate thought of needing a reactive load to hear how much of a difference there is.

Maybe if not a video, just as an audio comparison? Good luck on the speaker journey!

I'm looking to do a comparison like that as soon as I have time but I'm so busy that it's going to take a while before I can get to it.

Regarding the speaker comparison, V30 is the standard for me, both in my 1x12 cab and with IRs but the Creamback has a nice flavor. I’ve been trying to experiment with a V30/creamback combo using Helix cabs, it’s a nice combo!

I liked the F25 but not the other two Fanes. I’m going to have to grab a set.
