When you get all of them side-by-side in a mock-gig scenario, you soon realise that the footswitch placement is a real paranoia inducer. Even if you don't make any errors that time, you're constantly worrying about it. Like filling your board with Chase Bliss and then wondering why you keep activating the wrong shit.

And to this fucking daaaaayyy... I still don't understand why they don't have distinct midi mappings for the footswitches across preset/stomp/scene mode. Absolute fools who designed that thing.

There is sleek, and then there is superficiality. The QC might be a cute looking little thing, but you couldn't watch a Jodorowsky movie with her without having to pause the thing and explain what just happened every 5 minutes. She a dumb bitch is what Imma sayin'

I should have prefaced what I said in the context of "an object sitting on a desk" haha, gigging and usability totally different. A friend got one recently and he said something like up and down is reversed going through banks? Something like that.

Just like lawyer dads need turqoise blue mesa combos for their offices, us homebodies want Apple ripoff modelling units (more than likely never to be gigged, lol).

Isn't that a big part of its appeal? When the QC was revealed, its look was unique to the market and the Apple comparisons were apt.

If I was a Neural DSP user I would be embarrassed too often. What a bad marketing style.
 
Well it not the Black Friday sale as I go an email that it on now

I don’t think it is a plug in as they would have used the familiar soon sooner soonest

If there is an 8 instalment video series it’s got to be new hardware ?
Maybe the Dual Cortex everyone wanted or a bigger QC I guess we will find out end of the month

To be fair, all companies have that issue.

Fractal announcing NAM support got a some flack.
Mesa releasing reissues got a lot of flack.
Marshall releasing factory modded amps got flack.
Kemper announcing modeling 2.0 got a shit ton of flack.

I mean.. the list goes on... :P

That´s how tastes work.

For me, there´s no doubt: it´s the best looking device out there.

And for me, there´s no doubt: I couldn´t use it live with that footswitch spacing.

Others think different... because We all are different.

And now, I stop saying obvious things... :bonk
 
I still think the QC is a really excellent piece of hardware, especially for its time. Compact and very powerful with a big touchscreen and rotary switches. It should still have plenty of life if the NDSP team ever actually decided to keep developing for it.

As it is I think they’re being passed up by the competition. Fender TMP has better UI and support, Helix Stadium looks awesome with a great track record of improvements, and look out for whatever Fractal does next.

In retrospect, Neural bit off more they could chew with the QC. I owned one and i agree, the hardware and form factor are great, but the platform never got the support to make it what was promised to be.

A different attitude from the company these past five years would've helped, too.

I think the only one on that list that wasn't called for was the Fractal NAM support.
  • Mesa to me always represented innovation in amp design. Pushing out reissues post-Gibson is the opposite of that. It doesn't help their cause that they then pushed "limited edition" variations like the IIC++ or HRG, when those could be toggle switches on the IIC reissue.
  • The only issue people had with the Marshall factory modded amps was their pricing. It was about 100 € worth of parts and labor pushed to +1000 € price tags.
  • People were excited for the Kemper 2.0 update. Then summer came and went, and it looks like it might be a Christmas miracle if it comes out. So it's no wonder people aren't too positive about it, or the MK2 hardware release.
For Neural DSP the path forward to me looks pretty clear:
  • Bring new improvements and features to the Quad Cortex, that are NOT just plugin compatibility. Where's the TINA upgraded amp models? Why are there no new fx?
  • Don't make stupid ass marketing campaigns. Everyone hated the last one, yet they think this drip-feed of likely complete bullshit over the rest of the month will be any better received.
I checked and it seems NDSP has not registered any new trademarks, or they are not at least visible on public sites. Interestingly it seems they've let the Dual Cortex trademark just not get renewed, so maybe they don't think it's worth releasing a box like that anymore, or want to call it something else.

Ideal situation would be that the mysterious new thing is a big update to the QC. I think that would make a lot of people happy.
 
In light of what Dan said, I think it is a QC update.

My highest hope would be for each of those videos representing a new device coming to QC, with the update itself dropped the day after the last one, which is Monday, December 1st.

But I don't do high hopes with NDSP any more.

My point was that all companies get flack, even the ones trying to release something good.
