So, a TGP longtime member gets scammed for $1650...

Imagine how happy a person must be to trust a $1600 ff transaction to a random stranger on the internet. While the person got burned for 1600, I am guessing the rest of their life is filled with ease and entitlement.

The point that's getting lost here is that he thought he knew the guy, that it was a longtime member he'd done business with before, but the account had been hacked/taken over and it wasn't the same person. Yes, always using F+F is the safer/failsafe option, but sending money to a "random stranger on the internet" isn't really an accurate description of this, from what I've read, although it does sound more dramatic and make for more pleasurable judging of others. :rofl

As for the second part of of your statement, you don't know about his life or level of ease/entitlement whatsoever. What a strange add-on to throw in, based on nothing.

Great first post, so which LARP Page mod is this?

Anyways, this issue is sooo much bigger than just another snookered TGP "member", too stupid to know not to trust PayPal FF...

Oh, did I mention the admin/owners deleted the thread & all evidence the *crime* happened, just like they always do?

The whole site's data was hacked en total (and perhaps several of the other 11 muso forums owned by Enthused Digital), including *EVERYONE'S* user name, password, email et al. stolen, then obviously sold on the dark web.

As a former eBiz owner I can't tell you how full retard it is for admin/mods/owners to ignore such a debacle, not inform & force "members" to secure their accounts :wat

Such an I Don't Give A $hit attitude has led to multiple accounts, including dormant longtime "members", being usurped & pilfered to ripoff dozens (perhaps hundreds) of unsuspecting prey in TGP's Emporiums ~ And this also includes trades & other forms of payment (all felonies).

Did you know it's possible also to create bogus PayPal accounts?

The whole disaster could have been (still could be) halted by any competent website admin to root out the scumbags through SEVERAL easy to apply methods...

But no, let's victim shame, sing Cumbayá & pretend that every thing is honky dory, totally ignoring that the site is infested with criminal sock puppets :rofl

On the topic of mods: The biases are clear, the laziness is transparent, but to be fair they have also been overwhelmed with mean spirited savages in the last decade, a$$hats whose lives' purpose is an *obsession* to constantly spam TGP with thinly veiled troll threads and/or posts that completely *disrupt* the site from any semblance of normal, rational & reasonable "community".

EDIT: I'm done (YCFS).
I don't even know what 'LARP' is and frankly, what ever semblance of truth is lost on me at the use of 'retard'. You clearly have a lot of anger at tgp. All I know is, the biggest sites in the world get hacked, ones that are using the assumably highest level of security. It's not like tgp is the only place to have its user names stolen. Regardless, I prefer not to be falsely accused of anything but having a valid perspective. You might want to work on your delivery.

Yes, all this is true, but the administration IMO has the ability, and possibly the responsibility, that if they know hacking is going on, they should probably do something about it like all the other sites that get hacked instead of turning a blind eye and trying to cover shit up by deleting posts that they do not think puts them or any of their sponsors in a less favorable light.

No site is perfect and hacking happens, but to do nothing to protect your customers is irresponsible at best. I'm not computer genius, but there are cheap programs to capture IP addresses and recognize VPN usage that could be used. I also agree that it was not the best decision to not protect your money.

Regardless, that site is all about revenue and profits. Someone says something bad about, or to, one of their sponsors or products, they are banned and the issue is swept under the rug as quickly as possible so the money train keep rolling.

I recall when that happened I changed my password. It sucks because a lot of good people got their names dragged through the mud because the site info was hacked.

On the flip side, it should be a good reminder for everyone to NOT use Paypal F&F to buy gear. You have no recourse. It's stupid. Instead, ask if you can buy with standard Paypal if you cover fees. I did that when I got my Axe FX 3 + FC-12 which was over $2k...I ain't sending that F&F. Seller was cool with me paying standard throwing extra to cover the fees which tells me he's legit.

If the seller refuses to accept standard Paypal, do not transact, do not pass go, do not send $200.

Anyone specifically stating F&F in their listing shouldn't be taken seriously at all.
