Please tell me why you choose your keeper. EL-34 Blue Channel C137 Mod is on the table.

What have you got? I have both new and that’s just ridiculous… one has to go! Thanks Guys!… Any info or opinions help for sure. J

The only thing the Fender EVH 50 watter over the original is form factor. The OG shits all over the Fender EVH without breaking a sweat.

EL34 mod, with the C137 mod and a 12au7 in the gain stage for channel 3 to make the entire gain knob usable.

OG as in Peavey? I’m confused but really want to understand your point. What is OG here?

Yea he means the Peavy.

I have both as well and should dump one but I am too lazy. 6l6 is the head and el34 is the 2x12 combo. Not a super fan of the EVH speakers so the 6l6 would be the keeper for me. They both sound amazing through the Mesa 2x12 slant and they sound a bit different but I could live with either. To my ears el34 amps in general have a scope with the same settings but I think I can adjust either to sound the same on red and that is where I live.

I’ve had both a blockletter 5150 and a 5150 II in the past and despite the fact that those amps produce some of my favorite live and recorded tones ever I could never personally jive with them through my own hands

5153 on the other hand has always been instant gratification

Strange stuff :idk

I assume you mean scoop. That’s odd because I consider EL34 to have plenty of midrange “throatiness” and 6L6’s to have pronounced lows and highs. Perhaps I am mistaken or the EVH’s are voiced differently.
