Well... so far... I've not found a sound on the RV6 or RV200 that I prefer over the RV5.

Oh My God Wow GIF

The RV6 has better modulate than the RV200. The RV200 has a better Hall than the RV6. But Hall and Modulate on RV5 sound much brighter and in your face and aggressive than RV6 and RV200. Even when messing around with the tone controls.

The RV6 and RV200 are too smooth and toned down for my liking I think.

I'm not usually the type to write things off this quickly, but I really know what I want and love from a front-end reverb, and this aint it.

You can hear very clearly how the RV200 and RV6 get a lot darker and much quicker than the RV5 does. The RV5 makes everything sound like Kevin Shields and I fucking love it.

Have you compared vs the MXR yet? I still think I'll grab a RV200 when they're on sale next. I've seen them on sale for £134 twice now.

Not yet no. I'll do a compare, but tbh, replacing the MXR wasn't really what I had in mind. I had hoped that the RV6 or RV200 would replace my RV5, and have lower noise floor. While they do have a lower noise floor, they just don't sound as good IMO.

The modulate mode on RV5 is simply gorgeous.

A friend who recorded P&W songs recently told me that many recent reverb pedals seem to be designed from a recording point of view, as opposed to being played live. This is why there are more parameters to tweak, specially on middle sized units like the RV200.

I just use the RV500. I prefer it to all the others and you can get a used one for not much.
I've owned one before, and they're okay, but I'm not a HUGE fan of it like I am the RV-5.

I really think about 10 years ago they decided to bias their reverbs towards the darker side of things, when the RV-6 came out, and it seems that trend has continued.
