Quality of Sound IS Quality of Life

If there's a correlation between how much one enjoys their life and quality of life, then it obviously follows that better tone correlates to better quality of life. However, the law of diminishing returns is a complicating factor. Each individual will have a tipping point at which the amount of time and money they devote to acquiring better tone starts to have a detrimental impact on their quality of life. Time and money are finite and the quality of tone is not the only factor contributing to quality of life which require investments of time and money.

Certainly true in the “v2.0 eliminated the need to boil in milk” sense.

AKA the “rehearsal actually started on time and I wasn’t on edge all night” sense.

Easiest way to improve a UI is to make one’s need to use it less likely/ frequent.

Idk if I’m so much of a toan connoisseur as much as…having shitty toan is a fn thorn in my side when playing a gig. Having good toan helps me to just focus on the music.
I think that extends to any part of playing. The hunt for tone stops, or lessens, if I don’t think about it as much because I’m just having fun and making the sounds I want.

False. No one cares. Play the cheapest shit imaginable and be happy that the bad guys aren’t scamming you. Nothing matters, namaste

Tone for me is an Integral part of playing music, i love playing guitar, but i also love crafting tones
Its part of my journey, so yeah tone is important to me, Do I tweak and explore a lot ? yes
Hence why the choice of platform for me can only be the Fractalverse
As i always say to each their own

:beer

This, I completely agree with.
If I don't get a good sound, ( to me) I can't play my best.
Feel means very little to me. I can play well with something
as stiff as a board or something as loose as the proverbial
cannon. But, I have to have the sound!

I don't know. Sometimes I think it is the inverse. :idk When we feel good
about Life we are more inclined to enjoy and appreciate everything. When our
quality of Life suffers, then ain't nothing worth a shit and we can go on Interwebz
and express ourselves about it.

Example: Have a crap day and even the best gear can leave us with more Meh.

On the flip side.... :idk

I have this friend that always comes with the stupid and annoying "when the drummer kicks in, no one can hear the difference"
I CAN! :hmm
I’d find a new friend because friends shouldn’t gaslight you. ;) :rofl

Can't argue with the premise of the OP, but it requires a degree of honest introspection I find uncomfortable. I am the cause of my crappy toans much more than anything starting at my strings and going downstream from there. Individual responsibility is a heavy burden, but when my toans are good it's very self-validating. I just wish the bad toans were the ones that happened accidentally.

I'd rephrase the subject line: Perception of quality of sound is quality of life. I'd wager that most players with any amount of experience have dialed in a sound they really liked one day which they didn't like at all at a later time. Did that negate the enjoyment you felt when you liked the sound? What changed? It wasn't the sound, it was your perception. Liking something (i.e., "quality") is subjective. It inevitably varies with how you feel. At some point, it behooves you to learn how to enjoy making music, which requires you to muzzle your internal critic.

This needs to be stickied at the top of the whole forum imho. Dead on correct and great advice to remember as a player and tone chaser.
