I have tried off to the side, and I just cannot do it. It's uncomfortable, and changes my hand ergonomics in relation to the bridge so much that palm mutes become near impossible. The only reason I even tried it that way is I see so many players doing it, so I wondered if it would help my practice routine.

This works for me Comfort wise and playability :idk

Seated, guitar on my right leg (I'm a righty), with my right heel resting on the chair leg or something to prop it up.

I prefer classical style with the guitar on my left leg and my left foot on a stool.

But lately I’ve been needing to use a page turner pedal more which has required playing off to the side with the guitar on my right leg. That frees up one foot to hit footswitches and the other to hit the page turner

I use both. Off to the side and classical position.

Although, transitioning from classical position to standing is easier - just stand up . The guitar should be in the same general position.

I usually only play standing, but if I am sitting down I have my guitar on my left leg to get it closest to where it would be if I was standing. I don't know if thats really off to the side of in the middle though
