Official original Marshall JVM appreciation thread

An extremely cheap classified ad has popped up for a JVM410H near me. I'm feeling that urge again...

It’s one of the very few amps that you could do a covers gig with only it and its foot controller. You don’t need any boosters or od pedal however much gain you like . It also feels great to play through. The BS about noise is not taking into consideration quite how much gain it there. People dial by numbers instead of sound. If you dime the gain on od2 red it’s going to hiss at you but that’s massively more gain than most amps.
You can easily do VH lead tones on OD 1 orange with the gain on 5 and no pedals.
Buy one they cost less than some pedals SH . If I only had one amp this would be it.

I passed on an head here this past month for $1200 US. Yes. I may be dumb. :facepalm

There's a couple 210s for under that locally to me

One of them is actually my old one that I traded for my 5153 + 2x12. Feel kinda bad for the guy that he hasn't been able to move it yet in the 8mo since we did the trade. Then again, he hasn't even taken his own photos for the ad. Always funny browsing through marketplace and seeing pictures from inside my apartment pop up in the feed

Do you have any itch for a 800 or do you feel the JVM covers it enough?

Not really. The Clean and Crunch channels get a lot of those classic tones (and can even get nasty in their own right on certain modes and OD pairings) so I don’t really feel like an 800 would get me anywhere substantially new/better. If I really had one specific Marshall tone I loved I could make the case for having that one specific amp, but I kind of dig them all in their own way, so the JVM kind of gets me there for most of them.

I wouldn’t turn away a Silver Jubilee at the right price though. :ROFLMAO:

But I’ve been resisting the urge for Dual Rec the last month or so.

With a new Fractal and NDSP unit on the horizon I thought it would be a great time to grab a JVM :rofl

Hit me with ur secretz tonez for a JVM410h. I can't justify keeping the TSL100 around here so that'll be going, can't say I'll miss it... surprised it's taken me this long to jump on the JVM train.

The secret to a great JVM tone: ISP Decimator. ;)

Apart from the horrendous noise floor the amp is pretty much flawless. Just dial everything at 5, presence and depth to taste (with the JVM I tend to prefer lower settings around 9-10 o'clock), choose the channel that suits your saturation needs - et voilà.

Yeah nice, a noise gate in 4cm is mandatory for even the quietest amp imo. TC Sentry here with no complaints.
There's been a few touchpoints on why I've been gassing... Used to use it a lot on the FM3 among other things, keen to put it through its paces
