At least the camera snobs usually avoid camera shake when photographing pigeons - gear nerds may or may not bother to play their riffs in time.

What annoys me about photo+video types is the same thing that annoys me about muso's. Sure, talk gear till the cows come home, and pontificate about the supremacy of one thing over another... don't mind that. I like a good slagfest as much as the next guy.

But crikey, can you actually do something GOOD with all that power??? Cozzzz fuuucccckkk man!! I'm so sick of hearing the same old tripe!

I joined a few occult pages on Facebook for research, hoping to see some cool imagery and thought provoking things. Nope. It's just losers arguing about the best way to be a hippy.

To some degree. The annoyance is when people conflate "I'm finding a technical flaw in this piece of gear" with "this gear can't be used to make wonderful music/photos". It seems to me that the worst bickering happens in two scenarios:

(1) folks nitpicking the technical details when one or both folks don't know wtf they're talking about on the technical side of things.

(2). folks that have their creative expression WAY too tied up in their gear choice and not the choices they make with their gear.

I don't mind folks being super into the technical side of gear just because they like the tech. I THINK you see that more in photography than guitar gear.

But when the folks think that just by choosing a piece of gear they've somehow made a creative choice, THAT shit is annoying. Using a Leica does not in and of itself make your photos look any more interesting, but if you love using it good on you.
