Practice tonight.
The Mark V went down a storm. Everyone loved it. The bassist (who is also an audio engineer and rents the studio we are rehearsing in) was quite conflicted by the end of it. He's got a bunch of amps, but doesn't own any Mesa stuff. He has two Verellen amps, and they're honestly not a patch on the Dual Recto or Mark V - IMHO. I think he was thinking that too, because he was talking about selling his Skyhammer at the end of the night!!
Axe3 in 4-cable-method worked really well too. I just had one preset, with three scenes, and 9 effects all with scene ignore turned on. So the scenes were clean, rhythm, high-gain, and I was adding the effects as and when I needed them. It was really class.
The setup and stacking of the amps.... I feel a bit OCD about that. I think I'd prefer having the FM9, purely from a pragmatics point of view. But then again, I had my laptop connected (and sat on top of the stack) and it was super super easy to tweak a few things and then save the preset.
I can honestly say, I've not been this happy with my tone for a number of years. The Mark V truly is now my main amp, and I'm contemplating getting another for home, so I can leave one at the rehearsal space, and then just cart either the Axe3 or FM9 across London for weekly rehearsals. We shall see!

The cab is an Orange PPC412HP8 - Celestion K100's. Sounded fucking killer. Very similar to my Marshall Mode Four cab.
