Crab Marcus tonight

Doing a “supergroup” gig tomorrow under the name “Crab Pit” and @JiveTurkey pointed out it would be foolish to use anything other than the crab


Had the one and only rehearsal tonight and used it and it sounded killer

Maiden crab voyage tomorrow!!

• Amp 1 Mercury Edition Classich ch -> Mesa Mark V 90 combo (Celestion C90) -> Austrian Audio OC16

Sounds crushing in the room, and the looser, rawer, sizzlier Mercury complements the tighter Iridium pretty well.

I'm so tempted to pick up an Iridium. In addition to many other uses I think it would make a great portable backup amp.

But having just picked up a Catalyst and a Tone King Imperial Preamp I'm feeling like I need to dial it back on gear expenditures, Still, I've been looking at the Iridium for a while now and when that happens I usually end up eventually taking the plunge.

I wish I had picked one up earlier. I tried one like two times at different occasions and never liked it for some reason, but maybe I was just trying to dial it how I use the Mercury and that doesn't quite work the same.

It's a lovely amp for rock/metal. Still don't love the Modern channel on either Amp 1 really, but the other channels are all great.

The line out makes it also really easy to record since you can disable the analog cab sim and use IRs, which you can't do on the Mercury unfortunately. The analog cab sim is fine, but really more of a "give it to FOH" type deal than "I'm going to make my new album with this".

Sounds great!! Played nice with my dirt pedals and cut through and sounded great in a dense mix

Jamming, wild cherry, Kylie minogue, metallica, etc. sounded great for all of it

I still can't believe how long I snoozed on these DSLs. Half overjoyed/ half kicking myself about it. Sunday's "Dad Sabbath" jam was a DSL100H into 4x12. I had a QC with one DSP providing 4cm (Klon pre; tape delay and plate post) and the other providing vocal effects in parallel (out to Yamaha HS80s). It sounded fantastic! No joke: possibly the most fun I've ever had playing music in my entire life.

Will add… crab Marcus through a thiele kind of obliterated other guitarists mini recto through a vert 2x12… probably just stage side bias but who knows

I’ve given accolades to this guys rig when I’ve been in the audience

Also their practice space drives me fucking nuts. They have it hyper dialed to their own band but shit hits the fan every time I enter the rehearsal space and they aren’t well versed enough in engineering to fix it any time I’m there


Oh I did also set the 750hz to neutral on the crab for the show…
