NMPD - New Marshall Pedals Day

So I had some rewards points from Musician's Fiend that was going to expire. You can't get none of the Marshall amps that I want in the US right now. Anything other than the DSL, Origin or Studio line are either backordered or out of stock. So I seen these new Marshall pedals available for sale. I had good luck with Marshall pedals in the past. I got the BluesBreaker and Guv'nor reissue pedals when they come out about a year ago and liked those. So when I seen the new JCM800 and 1959 pedals available I ponied up my rewards points and some cash and ordered both of them.

They arrived today. I did a quick once over and they are heavy, robust and seem to be very sturdily built for years of stepping on. They take either a 9V battery or the standard 9 volt input from a power supply. They're about 1 1/2 times as wide as a Boss pedal but not as tall.

I plugged them into a a Gibson Theodore and a Orange OR 15 head and a 2x12" cab. I never played a real 1959 Marshall amp before yet but use to have a 1987 halfstack and that's what the sound of the 1959 pedal reminded me of. Sounded kind of like a '70s Marshall amp. The JCM800 reminded me of my Marshall Silver Jubilee combo or a late '80s Marshall JCM800 amp. Only had these pedals for a short while yet, however I really like the sounds and build quality of them.

I had seen a demo. These are nice.

Which has more gain?

What does the sensitivity knob on the '800 pedal do? Some kind of compression control?

The JCM-800 has more gain, the 1959 is no slouch though. The 1959 has maybe a more classic rock sound. And the JCM-800 more of a hard rock early '80s sound.

Don't quote me on this but the sensitivity knob supposedly adjusts how responsive the pedal is to how hard you pick. It's supposed to adjust between what on a JCM-800 amp would be high and low inputs. I played around with that knob and I heard a difference, but a little hard to describe after one sitting. It definitely affected the gain though.

Marshall made in the uk and Vietnam amps are going to cost lots more now when they hit the USA because of these bloody stupid tariffs 😳

Admins: Just commenting on Marshall prices going up or not. If considered too political, I will remove it.
@Dave Lewis : Please don't get my thread locked by bringing tarrifs into it. Looks like the tarriffs on UK imports to US have been lowered to 10% as of now. Initial tarrifs on imports from Vietnam were 46%, they're in negotiation to bring it down to 22% to 28%.

Shirley it only gets political if names and governments get mentioned?
Other than that it’s just new fact of life Tax laws that companies and musicians are going to end up getting hit with.
