I got this in today. I’ve had a chance so far to run it up against my red DLS (set to SL), DS-1X and Cusack Meta-Plexi through a mono Neunabor Echo to a Mooer X2 Cab with YamahaStudio 8’s headphones. All sounded pretty sweet.

1) Cusack - vintage mode with gain cranked rips. It has that Plexi clarity with gain. AC/DC on steroids that rings nicely

2) DLS - full stack sound. Thick bottom and mids. Highs are refined. Enough gain without boost

2.1) DS-1X - Super sweet and flexible with none of the loose bottom or harsh uppers of the OG. underrated

3) JCM-900 - It has the bite you expect. It has the extra gain over the 800. At first it sounds perfect, then you realize the bottom is a bit too loose for those gain levels. So it likely needs an SD-1 for sculpting. A bit disappointed. Looks better in person than online.

Surprise thrown in the mix and relevant to also having power amp simulation in the equation?

Nux Amp Core Studio with Neunabor Echo in loop on to headphones blew them all out as far as classic marshall brown sound. So good. Form factor’s perfect. I could add my immerse and have 3 smallish pedals covering tons. I think those pursuing tube power amp tones to add to things are really on to something. When I have time perhaps I’ll run the drives though some clean/ish amps on the Nux and see how it goes. Good I’ll bet.

Please don’t take my opinion as gospel. I could see plenty of folks loving this pedal. It sounds amazingly good in many ways. I wonder if a JCM-2000 version would be what I’d like. I’ve had almost every variant of the DSL heads and combos but ultimately just landed on the JVM.410H. While I really like the head, I don’t feel interested in the JVM pedal. The Peavey RockMaster pedal has me curious though.

Maybe I’ll stop being a stubborn butthead and throw an SD-1 in front of the 900 pedal to tighten it up just so I won’t regret not giving it a shot.

My first tube amp was a Peavey Rockmaster head. Didn’t know shit about changing tubes, biasing, or proper impedance. Always wondered why it sounded so choked up over the years. Passed it on to a tech that wanted It real bad. I was like whatever. Take it. I was rarely playing at the time.

I saw the vid on the new preamp pedals from Peavey and wanted the Rockmaster. Sounded great in the clip. Even had the push pull pots. I’m thinking I’m gonna get it.

I played the shit out of that amp. I don’t think my Marshall’s would have survived such abuse?

Was looking at the Marshall JCM900 Pedal, then ended up taking a bet on the Mooer 002 on eBay for £26.

Damn good pedal, I know the preamp series they do is good, but this 002 is super impressive.
