NGD: I Bought It! JP15

You don’t deal with thousands when you draw up architectural plans in 3D? :grin
Not for plans, that's for sure! :rofl

But I did make a drawing recently, comparing the curvature of 2 different radius fretboards, and I did have to change the scale to .001" to be able to see the true difference. I posted it here; I'll see if I can find it...

Assuming these dimensions for neck width:

1.75" @ nut
2.25" @ last fret

To go from 12" to 10" radius...

at the nut end you'd be removing .0065" material
at the end of the neck it would be .0106"

That's the math of it. Those numbers assume no extra material needs to be removed.

Would you even feel that difference though?

That’s a wild visualization. Super cool!

I doubt it. I rarely feel radius unless it’s a drastic compound, or a non-radius classical or something.

I bet you can hear it though :p

I wonder...

Interesting thing about this JP...

It was a one-off from the EB vault. I don't know of any other JP15's with a Rosewood board, the same PU's as the Majesty, and for some reason, the fretboard radius is 15", not the 17" on every other JP model guitar.

I have no idea why they did this, but it was one of the reasons that attracted me to this guitar. I thought being a tighter radius would make those, "same fret, finger rolls" you have to do to get the notes to not ring together, say when playing a minor arpeggio when all 3 notes on the e,b,&g are on the same fret, easier.

It's such a slight difference (even less than in that drawing I posted) that it doesn't make it any easier. At least to me.
