New JHS Kit Pedal Release Monday

Gotta love JHS hyping his stuff, he should be nominated for an Oscar with those acting chops & script writing:rofl

I remember years ago when Josh was still *active* on FreeStompBoxes & was already hyping his "excellence", talking crap about classic designs & builders, until he got caught ripping off a bunch of Run Off Groove OG designs (especially the Superbolt, which is ROG Supreaux 💯), without *any* recognition -or- compensation.

Of course, except for a few notable exceptions, the whole boutique pedal "industry" is built on hacks, con artistry & IP theft/appropriation...

If it wasn't for the TGP P&W "pros" schilling his stuff, ol' Josh would never have become the "expert" corp. flimflammer he is today :poop:
It's great when people on TGP get their panties in a knot over dual Bluesbreaker pedals because it is "ripping off the King of Tone." Lol

Is this just marketing? Either way it’s going to seriously increase the value.

Seems like a honest management mistake in multiple areas.

When he compares the A Box Later and Dumble Boost, they sound pretty much identical so even if the circuit is not, the end result is going to be the same.

I'm sure some dumb shit will try to claim the Notadumble V1 is now something super rare even though there are thousands of them out there.

15 thousand. There was no need to mention it, it could easily have been the intent. But now they will sell out instantly and half the people bought them will also buy the V2 . Genius hype.

But black boxes are Satan's favorite color, no wonder JHS is going all-white. 😂
I prefer my black box NOTAKLON.

They would have sold out anyway, so I don't think it really is about selling more.

Uh, yeah, sure...

How many that bought v1 now *must* buy v2, too?

That's a lot of people buying 2X product, maybe 4X for the avg. collector/wannabe playas, that's not even mentioning all the LE colors :rofl

Just think of all those fun JHS gang meetups, where the P&W heroes are gonna woop out their pride & joys...

I'll show you mine, if you show me yours!

I watched that vid last night and burst out laughing.

Throughout it I kept flip flopping between “Oh, this is totally intentional” and “Wow, this doesn’t even fucking matter and I get the idea that Josh legitimately feels like he made a big enough mistake to warrant such a thorough apology without pointing a single finger anywhere but on himself”

I kinda love that I can’t confidently say I know for sure it’s BS or not. Personally, I take Josh at face value. I don’t think that guy has an ill bone in his body and my gut feeling is he actually does feel bad about this, despite the fact that it really makes no fucking difference at all because when he demo’d both the actual units, I couldn’t hear a damn bit of difference in any meaningful way. It wasn’t until he said “I know some of you thought you were getting the same thing John Mayer has” that I realized why there’s going to be people in hysterics over it, despite the fact it makes no difference.

From that standpoint, I give Josh a lot of credit because that’s exactly how a business owner should take responsibility for a mistake. No finger pointing, no excuses and a detailed explanation of events. In my line of work, this just doesn’t happen.

And if it IS a troll/hype/marketing, I want to give Josh even more props because that’s absolutely hilarious and the only people who are going to be out $100 are the dolts who think there actually is a meaningful difference between the two and/or are only buying into the hype itself and nothing to do with the actual sound/function of the pedal. I have no bones about creating/picking that low hanging fruit.

From my experience of Dumble stuff it may actually be slightly different for the player but you can’t hear it in a video. Dumble had a very particular idea of what he wanted and he tended to do what was necessary to achieve that with whoever he was building it for. The few (amps) I have tried are all unmistakably not D clones and share the thing Josh mentioned in the video even though the circuits are different . I’m sure this will be evident in the room. It’s not hype , they did stand out as having that extra bit in all of them. It’s like finding that 1 in a thousand guitar and replicating it every time but you need to be the one it’s tuned for. The clones don’t get that last bit that is why they had the reputation in the first place.

I have nothing to dispute that with as that’s my main reasoning for seeing the Dumble craze as pointless. It’s like spending $300K for a capture of an amp you didn’t dial in. But like Josh said in the vid, without having the actual pedals to compare them to, it’s a fairly moot point to be concerned with.

And I’d have to imagine if Josh were going for mass hype, he’d have said something along the lines of “Now I know you can’t hear a difference when I switch between these, but it’s a world of difference in the feel”

It won’t be a world of difference but you’ll probably be able to tell them apart. Dumble anything is only about the player or those sitting next to it. Not hype though.

In my honest opinion it's all marketing, no mistakes were made.
People who bought v1 are highly likely to buy v2, double the profit for JHS.

I have a hard time believing John Mayer would ship his rare Dumble pedals back to JHS as part of a marketing ploy by Josh. The honest mistake is far far more plausible.

Marketing probably (definitely) played a role in the video and how they are handling it though. They easily could have said little or nothing since it is a copy of a real Dumble circuit from a pedal that John Mayer really owns, and the sound is essentially the same, just JFET vs op-amp.

The whole breakdown of how it happened is way too detailed and plausible to be fake, IMO. There’s a million other stories they could have come up with if it were fake where I think human nature would have caused them to make it a more captivating/dramatic story. Spending 30 minutes detailing the rather boring events that led up to it, I’d have to think if that were fake then it’s so expertly created as a result of not being dramatic that JHS might be a bigger social experiment company than a pedal company.
