NDSP Quad Cortex

Not to bring negativity here but when I had my QC I enjoyed this guys channel. Seems as his QC had an issue pop up out of nowhere 😞

Honestly, I’ve been thinking of selling mine because of stuff like this. I just feel like it’s a ticking time bomb before it turns into a paperweight. It’s a bummer because I do enjoy the tones I can get out of it.

For sure, but, they seem to be pretty good about fixing them. I've only seen 1 instance of someone having to pay. I get it though, it doesn't inspire confidence.

It's a reason why I sold mine. I started to feel like I was playing Russian Roulette and the chambered bullet would come around sooner or later.

It's fine that they're taking care of people with those issues (although they seem inconsistent on charging or not charging), but I'm not trying to be without a main piece of gigging gear for a week or more. My weekend gigs have only picked up lately.

I still have mine, no problems, still works as good as day 1, and I use it every day

But the Helix Stadium :verynice sounds good on paper, but........but the thing must have a good capturing option, it needs to have more then 1 capture at a time, it needs to be good, and the amp models needs to sound better then the QC for me to go with a Line6 device again, it`s been a ruff ride on the once I got in the past. Pod was ok, Vetta ... okish , X3 mehhh, Spider valve combo ..bad. Stomp ( 2 times) mehhh.
Then I got the QC and was happy!

Good news for you is that every Agoura model will have a Hype knob that should make them sound - to you - just as good as if not better than QC. You can bet it'll most certainly run more than one capture at a time, and Line 6 will actually have a functioning marketplace so the best third-party capture makers will have the hassle-free means to unleash their full offerings for the platform.

I'm confident that the new Agoura amps will be better than the current QC lineup. We'll need to wait & see about the other stuff. I'd go as far as saying that I'm certain their profiling tech will be a cut above everything else available on any hardware unit out there right now & go toe-to-toe with stuff that comes out of NAM. Not sure about the marketplace thing.

He does make good content.

I commented that it's similar to the issue I had with the input impedance being off and NDSP took care of it.

Which, kudos to them for taking care of their customers (even well out of warranty), but it made me nervous about the long term reliability which is a big reason I sold mine.

I may be half deaf but one of the reasons I picked up a QC was that I preferred it in shootouts from Leon Todd and Jon Symons amongst others. It was at least neck and neck with Fractal as I consistently picked those two as my favorites above other units.

Sonically I'm not sure how much "better" modelers need to sound compared to the Fractal and QC. It may be more refining quirks or anomalies in certain amp models, like how a Dual Rec may sound off on the QC compared to the real thing. But I would be really surprised if the Agoura Deluxe Reverb blew the doors off something like a QC or Fractal.

Yeah, the waters are getting muddier with modeling quality and that’s certainly a great thing for all of us.

I had Helix, QC, Kemper, Axe3, and even the Boss GT1000 side by side for a number of weeks. Time and time again, I felt the Helix and Axe3 came to the top.

I still think there's room for modellers to get closer to the source amps. There's a 3Dness to a real amp, even when using a loadbox, that a modeller doesn't always capture.

I don't believe any top-tier platform "blows the doors" off any other platform these days. I've owned them all in the past couple of years - Kemper, Fractal, helix, Tonemaster Pro, Quad Cortex (some more than once).

The differences are most acute when you first switch, but I've gone back and listened to recordings throughout that period and they're all of the same quality. The reason I moved on from each was either lack of development on QoL features, lack of development of content, DSP or workflow limits or some combination of the three.

I could gig or record with them all.
