NDSP Quad Cortex

I mean we definitely favor FAS over other manufacturers here. Which is fine. But we definitely do 😂

Okay this is a legitimate question. I think am just realizing something I think maybe should have been obvious before now but I’m not really sure if this is correct.

Is this forum being created directly related to the fact that at TOP people were getting banned for ripping on NDSP? So this forum was basically started with a primary motivation being the freedom to rip on NDSP without consequence?

This very thing dawned on me yesterday as I was involved in a discussion thread here. Reading between the lines, the realization came to me that some people here have a background and context that is coloring their views on NDSP that I do not. I was confused about what was going on, but now I understand the reasons behind the tone of some of the discussions here a bit better.

Thank you @Lysander for providing a valuable public service. Neural may be behaving a bit better now, but some things should never be forgotten.

Speaking only for myself. I was never banned from TOP. I left out of disgust at their many layered hypocrisy. Even now, I occasionally surf by and find confirmation that I made the right call.

But is it that simple? I don't know. Sure, making the effect should be easy enough, making it sound good on the other hand doesn't look as simple. I have zero knowledge on the technical aspect, but playing through a few of these effects on different units, even EQ, just aren't as close as I'd expect them to be.
For the most part, yes it is that simple.

I came here because a lot of my favorite posters from TGP came here and it was a pretty fun and different experience. I would say over time it's gotten more heated but it's still a good hang. Personally I've started to use the ignore function more because I just don't want to engage with some people.

This isn't the first time we've had this kind of clash of opinions especially over NDSP. There was an attempt to split the discussion to a bashing thread vs an owners focused thread, but that ended terribly. Oddly enough I think people's opinions/roles were reversed.

One nice thing about TGF is that it's mostly focused on digital modeling. TGP would often have tube amp truthers crashing discussions on digital gear which was extremely annoying.

Oh, I do go back to TGP occasionally because I never had any troubles there and sometimes it's interesting to get some different opinions but very often it's a bit boring.

Depends on the goal. If it's emulating a specific pedal or just "a multitap delay" which would be a digital delay with multiple delay lines and maybe some basic ass modulation. Versus emulating say multiple tape decks etc.

It's still pretty weird that they have basically abandoned that roadmap of announced devices.

I know it's a QC thread, but leaving that part aside, I don't know if it's that simple to make great sounding effects, even if in paper they seem very simple.

For the most part, yes it is that simple.

If you say "most part" of a delay is create a delayed signal, I agree. But again, to make that sound good it looks like a bit more involved process. The digital delay on my Zoom ms50g would sound the same as the digital delay on a Eventide H9. "If it was that easy, it would be that easy".

I was working on my QC yesterday and made a discovery for myself.
It is also a time-machine. Four hours disappeared in a blink of an eye.
Absolutely not a complaint.
Are you playing with captures or models? Of your real amps?

Because I was considering buying another real 5150, I built a pretty simple PV-505 patch on the QC with just the amp block, a parametric EQ cutting 400Hz and 4000 HZ a few db with a narrow Q, and one of the Tone Factor Mesa XR IRs.

I sent that through the PXM-12MPs. I had the PXMs on Monitor 2 mode, +4db volume, treble -3, mid +3 @1000Hz, bass +6.

It was very, very loud and in my bedroom at that level I could imagine I was playing a real amp through my cab. The cab is actually in between the PXMs and has a Badlander 25 sitting on top of it and that visual may have helped but I felt like the tone and feel were there.

I’m pretty sure if I’d actually had the real amp sitting there I’d have felt a difference because those amps are just a special kind of kick in the gut but it’s been a while since I played one so no doubt that helped with the illusion. The point is that I was definitely getting the vibe I was going for and it was plenty satisfying.

Purchase avoided. For now. I’m still a tiiiiiny bit tempted. 😬

OG 5150 is something special. I hadn't played through one in a LOOOOOOONG time. I jammed through one on the first wrestle metal jam back in late October and speakers I wasn't used to aside; that tone was GIRTHY :love:satan:love
