Yeaaaasah, I'm not sure any "porting" is happening if an entirely new firmware has to be created for each small batch.

Indeed but, at least for raw amp tones, they might just name it Archetype: AxeFX III instead.

A Hevy Devy plugin would have me intrigued thou, particularly on the effects side. Would be really cool to have some sort of version of his Ocean Machine pedals in software form.

Yeah I don’t think they are porting shit. I think they finally unified their modeling, which for reasons unknown they didn’t decide to do until about two years in.

Of course there are non-insignificant differences running them on different platforms, but it just makes no sense to release anything that isn’t immediately “compatible” (Insert Inigo Montoya meme) pending the next QC firmware. (Insert, skeleton sitting on a park bench meme)

If they did, it still takes a helluva long time for them to port their plugins. My guess is that even if a lot of the algorithms are the same, they either have to optimize them for the QC DSP or there's at least a lot of other work involved.

I guess we'll see when the new one launches and how long it will take for a compatible version to come out.

I think the only porting involved is with the licensing aspects, to whatever degree that’s ported over. If they have to make entirely new blocks for the QC for the plugin sounds and the plugins themselves don’t actually “run” on the QC, I think it’s safe to say there’s no porting involved.
