NAM support announced by Fractal Audio

I think people are just glad it’s gonna be included.. like most will going forward

I just find it funny how quick people change their tune.....

I think it is great it will be included. Time will tell how much people use it. I remember when the Tone Match block was added, and how it was the biggest thing in the world. I don't think anyone has ever used it since, lol.

I would try it with free captures

Amazing. I just found his smugness a bit obnoxious, given that people HERE haven’t been unanimous in excitement over NAM on FAS. Really couldn’t give less of a fuck about the FAS forums.

I would say tone match is used quite a bit. It’s probably the the most common request of a block to add to the fm9.

Can't understand how anyone could be butthurt over an added feature that they don't need.
Yeah, I don't want it, but I don't particularly care, and I don't expect Fractal cares one tiny bit what I or anyone else who doesn't want it thinks.

That doesn't mean I'm not going to say what I think. If it stays out of the way for people who don't use it (which seems likely) and doesn't suck development resources that could be making more interesting stuff (less likely - they're a small company), it won't bug me in any way at all. And I'm completely happy with my FM9T as it is.

I can't understand how anyone would be so uptight and sensitive that they can't bear seeing people who don't want something say so. Life is just full of mysteries.

I think that generally the more features the better up until it is out of my price range. For me, things like NAM and capacitive switches outweigh more expensive adds like touchscreens and more robust GPUs...but that's just me. I'm sure others have their own wants.

Interesting. I rarely see anything about it these days. Does the FM9 only have one cab block? Maybe they try to use it as a second IR player block.

I am a member of pretty much every forum. I like all kinds of gear. I have actually been very critical of Fractal lately as I have been very into ToneX this year. I spent a few hours today lining my 412 cab with foam because I also like to play my tube stacks.

I was playing around with it again trying to help someone get a free-ish writing template set up and it really does sound great. The amount of time I spent flipping through variations of the same couple of amps to find gain/tone that was 95% of what I was looking for was probably a little more time than it would take me to dial in a model for a raw amp tone. I was reminded that if I ever go back to amps I’m probably gonna sell a testicle for an Omega Granophyre half stack. Does the Axe-FX model that?

What once was 😭

Well .... the current model is already AUS $5,300 down here ..... so factor in newer more expensive parts and the impact of the " T " word that shall not be mentioned, and sadly, you mightn't be that far off the mark.

As a comparison, the Helix XL has a launch price down here of $AUS3,999.
Well converted to € it’s 100€ more than in Germany. Also 3000€ vs 2900€
And the US price converted into € is 2080€

The beauty of distributors and VAT.

I think for me the sheer price distortion for Fractal in Europe rules me out no matter what function it has.

Sadly agree. The FM3 is about the only Fractal product which is a real value proposition in Europe, and now stuff like L6's Helix Stadium is shipping at comparable prices.

Fwiw, personally, I don't think I'd ever use captures in case I had any FAS product.
The reason for me to hop onto the capturing train with the Tonex One (which by now is even two of them) has been form factor and functionality, not the way it does the sound thing. I couldn't care less whether it's component modeling or captures, as long as things make me happy.

Let alone possible support issues. I'm not saying G66's support is bad (I have no idea about how good or bad they are), but imagine your device is breaking. With pretty much any other device I'd be able to have a replacement delivered the next working day. Not possible with FAS stuff in Europe.
