NAM support announced by Fractal Audio

I sincerely love my 20th anniversary Shiva:

I've never played a real Friedman amp. But so far, only quick noodling though, I do like my Friedman IR-X tube preamp pedal.

My view of NAM (I am biased though) is that it allows me to get more worth from my spent money on great analog amps and pedals etc, which in turn then supports the analog industry rather assists it's decline, all whilst I get increased benefits of better compatibility within the DAW and digital hardware realm, which also supports those industries too, and also allows for more of a community to emerge that other wise wouldn't exist. The world is a better place with NAM (and other similar tech) than otherwise it would be without.

That is a crazy first sentence. I think I did a Harland Williams neck twist trying to read that.

Regardless I think I see your point about freeing up money. I love NAM but great shared captures also alleviate the need for some people to buy the amps at all. To debate my own point, it enables me to hear amps that I didn't even know existed and then perhaps purchase

Overall, Steve Atkinson created software that is stellar and made it free for everyone. We need more of that in the world. For me, disliking NAM is simply not possible.

Everything new and different gets a ton of attention online in the beginning, and people lose their minds over it even if they have no idea what it's about. Just like true bypass, point to point, latency, high fructose corn syrup, MSGs, and whole grains.
Whole grains - that'll never catch on. (Unless it comes in a pedal format.) People secretly like constipation and bowel cancer.

I don’t think we will see it this year , maybe a hint but release is likely another year out I suspect

For people following prior patterns firmware 30 was the last
So I suspect things will either slow OR we will get one last big push like an engine change to Cygnus X1
Or something that will be where the new line starts and the final for current
Time for some folks around here to sell their Fractal to rebuy Fractal to sell their Fractal to rebuy their Fractal to sell their Fractal to rebuy their Fractal in order to flip before prices drop but finally settling on some justification for keeping one of each generation anyway so fuck it.

This is actually a huge deal for me. The main reason I have a QC right now is because of PCOM. If there had been a reasonable avenue to be able to quickly integrate sounds directly from my plugins into my FM9, I’d still have that instead. Integration of NAM into the Fractalverse means I could profile my favorite sounds from the plugins into a Fractal device. So instead of capturing Fractal sounds into a QC, people will be profiling NDSP sounds into a Fractal…AND with even better quality (oh how the tables have turned with that dynamic).

I’ve said I’ll be getting the next generation Fractal device and though I still thought that was true, I think I was maybe starting to lean away from that due to some reliance on PCOM and due to form factor and ease of use. I don’t know what Fractal has planned for those last two aspects but regardless, I’m excited again.
