Got lucky and in the right place at the right time. I'll update later. I feel like I rescued a lost puppy. On our way home!

congrats. looks like there's a lot of Marshall-(esque) NAD love on TGF this week. Welcome to the party 🥳

Very nice!!
Thanks Guys!!

I have never owned a real tube amp, so I will have a lot of questions soon and some may be stupid. Need to start looking for a half-stack now, anyone have any suggestions? Probably need to get an extra set of tubes for it too. Where and what would be a good set to go with?

That's all for now, but there will be more to come, lol...

Okay, so here is the story. I was a local boutique guitar shop. This is the place in my area where the pros come to shop when they are in town. Chris Stapleton was just here a few months ago when he played in Tampa and is a friend of the owner.

Anyway a guy came in and needed money and asked if he would give him $100 for it. The owner said no, but would give him $200 because it was worth it whether it worked or not. When they guy left, I asked him how much and he said if he didnt have to touch it he would sell it to me for $250. So there you go, I paid the man, grabbed it and left.

Since I didnt know if it would work or not, I was meeting some customers near the local GC in another city, so I took it there after our meeting and asked them how much they would give me for it. Had some scratchy push switches, but other other than that, they said everything worked and could give me $350. I happily declined and brought it home.

If you are just wanting to have a set of spare power tubes for playing out live, then you can get away with a matched pair of EL34s. As for the brand, you will need to look at what are presently installed so that their bias voltages will be similar.

If you are looking to replace all your power tubes, plan on visiting an amp tech so you can get the amp biased accordingly.

For spare preamp tubes, JJs are a good choice.

Also consider a good attenuator so you can get the full experience!
As for tubes, I think JJs are good ( and cheap ) enough for starters.
What's a good one to get? I believe this thing only has 100w and 50w, so I'll definitely need to get one. I'll sit down and RTFM tonight.

Toneking Ironman2, Aracom PRX150DAG, Weber Mass 100, Marshall Powerbrake .
Or a reamper like the Fryette Powerstation or the Boss TAE ( I have this one ).

Or if you are good with building it yourself - pretty simple, I did it once - "John's attentuator"

I have a pair of Tone King Ironman 2 attenuators that I typically use with my Triaxis + 2:90 stereo rig.

I also have a Fryett Power Station that I use with my Mark VII, or with my AxeFX3 + guitar cab.

The Ironman 2 and PS are both great options. The PS is a reamp device so it can also be used as a standalone power amp. It also offers continuous volume selection, whereas the IM2 has preset attenuation levels.

I don't have any experience with the other options described by @SKU .

IMO you don't need an attenuator with this amp as it gets gain / distortion mainly from the preamp stage and tubes. You get plenty of dirt and thump at low volume with it....or at least I do YMMV.
Thanks!! I may reach out with some specific questions once I get a cab.
DSLs are awesome! You sure you need an attenuator? The master volumes on the 40 and 100 are pretty good.
Thanks! IDK, all I have heard is what the guy at GC played today. I will probably run it on 50w anyway at home.
i like mine, hangs right there with any of my other amps with the right boost. records easy. everyone should have one for the $500 or so i see them for
I really dont have any idea if I will need one and if I can find a 2x12 I probably wont. Unfortunately, I have been on FB marketplace and there are quite a few peeps giving 4x12's away for less money than 2x12's. If I have to "settle" and get a 4x12, fuck the neighbors, one doesnt like me anyway and the other is a single guy that is only there at night and I work from home:crazy

Wow! What a righteous score! :banana

I say enjoy it. Put the attenuator on the backburner for now. They are more applicable to
NMV amps anyways----though not exclusively.

Also, they have Marshall Origin 2 x 12s in vertical or horizontal configuration for $350
new right now. If you can't find a deal on anything else that would get you by for some
time to come. :beer

I'm going to order one of those next week if I dont score something else locally. I have a guy that wants to sell me a 4x12 but he is going to let me know the price tomorrow.
