Not super familiar with Engl amps. There are many and they all have the same name lol.

The tones ive heard from this one are insane. Does Engl make another amp with this same voicing and gain structure without all the channels for less money?

They only thing I know of that is close is the E570 pre amp? I mean it's not less channels but it's less money and needs a power amp.

The fireball could fill your wishes for amazing gain, less channels and $. Both the 25 watt and 100 watt were on my list to get that Engl sound I wanted for less $.

Having never owned a 100 watt amp, the Fireball 25 is great to me. It might be a bit pricey in the US though, got mine used in Europe.

The SE FE sure is cool though. Fireballs look like cave man amps in comparison.

My amp came with the Z9 footswitch but I am confused with getting it to do what I would like. Reading the manual it sort of looks like I "need" midi rather than the SAC connection?

What I would like is to program switches to be more like a patch? Button 1 be channel 3, high gain on, contour on, noise gate and Serial FX loop on. Button 2 (or any button if that matters) channel 4, high gain on, contour not pushed, low punch noise gate and serial FX loop on?

It sort of looks like the SAC port only changes channels and 1 sound option per other switch? No "patches" or MPN settings?
