My first impression of HX Stomp

I really need to know, everyone that hates the Tonex software, what was the problem you had with it?

You move your profile into the slots and they’re there when you need them. What’s so hard about it? I truly don’t get it.

I didn’t have an issue with the software when I had it other than the whole editing thing but they fixed that (I think?). I sold my Tonex so I haven’t had a big reason to take a look at the software since they updated it.

Stuff is spread around the GUI fairly randomly. Even though there’s a lot of information on the screen at any one time, you still have to scroll through sections constantly and often text is shortened to the point of almost being useless.

IR manager is unbelievably basic (and again file names get massively truncated).

Having presets and tone models separated as they are can just cause extra steps in finding what you are looking for.

Making the screen size bigger doesn’t really help.

For me it’s just the sum of a ton of little things - like even the search bar requires clicking rather than just being there. I don’t think it’s unusable or bad looking - it’s just bloated, slow and busy when it doesn’t need to be.

Yeah, i get that it could be laid it better but internet lore makes it sound like it’s completely unusable. I mean you only have to look for stuff once and then you know where it is.

The earlier software had some major usability issues. The biggest one was it could not change settings on the pedals, which was part of my main gripe with it...

The software was/is incredibly unintuitive and inefficient from a user perspective.

Basic tasks should be one, maybe two clicks away. Not, click this tab, click here here and here, then click save, now click this tab, click here drag that, click this and done. There were other things like an icon that looks like a download button that doesn't actually download in one screen but does in another etc.

Nothing that made it unusable, just not pleasant to use.

All of the above, and as an added bonus, the equally unintuitive iPadOS version would crash at random. This was at the launch of the OG ToneX pedal. I assume things have improved since then; otherwise no one would bother having this conversation. :D But probably not enough, and I've already moved on.
