My first impression of HX Stomp

Nah. Those things are either no compromise correct or incorrect. Limited? Maybe.

To be fair, there are parts of Helix and Fractal and Kemper (and I'm sure others) that are NOT a compromise, imo, (including many amps in Helix).

What is almost always a compromise though is "I'mm'a get every sound out of this one box" and "I'mma get all my effects out of this one box".
(Edit to note: nothing wrong with getting every sound out of one box if that sound includes nothing more than amp, tremolo, spring reverb and speaker), and the box is an amp)

Ok, I no longer want to have this conversation. 😒

😂
Face it, your choice was either this conversation or watching some ridiculously over-caffeinated guitar player dodge the heat of his trendy ringlight by using the shadow of the pulsating vein in his forehead, which quivers and quakes with every over-pronounced syllable, as he tries to gaslight you into liking and subscribing to his channel instead of actually giving you valid A/B Tonex vs Stomp info in the video you would have clicked on.

This is the discussion that I’d like to have. Tell me more about what you mean.
To get back to the actual conversation- the Stomp can be several different things, and part of it working well is the user adjusting their approach. I’ve used it as an all-in-one where I labored over dialing in the perfect amp sound. I’ve made my own Meris/Strymon ambient synth sounds. I’ve also used it to pull up stomp box models on the fly in front of an amp. In the later case the trick was to not think so hard about it and just put the effect on, maybe turn a knob or two just as I would with a Boss pedal. It actually takes some mental effort to approach the same hardware in a radically different way.

I know, I'm just kidding. Well apart from reverb. I really do prefer some reverb unless it's really gained up. I'm the same with actual amps too.
Yeah, I agree. I just like that gone are the days where with modelers you had to be like “oh it’s easy: just use an amp block, cab block, parametric EQ, side chain compressor, and the Necronomicon at the end of your chain”. :rofl

That's part of the reason I stayed away from modellers for so long. With my amp I just turned it on, plugged a guitar in and it sounded great.
People like that fine fellow who stares right at the camera while he plays just put me off with their mega chains adding "glue" to everything.
