MARSHALL AMPS

@Frodebro Let me just say one thing, in the most neutral way possible: an excess of control is just as bad as the absence or destruction of any control mechanisms. And finding the right balance between the two isn't always the easiest or most popular thing.

That being said, I don't think the high prices of these "factory modded" Marshalls are justified in any way. But it's always the same with companies that only rely on their legacy instead of innovating and trying new things. Just look at Gibson - every year they re-release the same old 50s and 60s Les Pauls, in varying levels of quality and at ever-increasing prices. The same thing is currently happening with Mesa since they were bought by Gibson. Innovation has been stopped, instead there are overpriced reissues. The cow is milked for as long as possible, knowing that at some point it will be over. The last Marshall amp that was supposed to be modern and offer something new was the JVM. That was 18 years ago...

I agree completely with you, there is no issue there. As I posted earlier, watching the videos of the new modded Marshall made me realize that my Mesa Stiletto already has "that sound," so I'm not remotely interested in one myself.

Thomann prices are out for the modded amps.

AmpIncluding Finnish VAT 25.5% :cussWithout VAT ~
Marshall 1959HW1922 €1432 €
Marshall 1959 Modified3222 €2400 €
Marshall JCM800 2203 Reissue1699 €1266 €
Marshall JCM800 2203 Modified2899 €2160 €

This is completely stupid pricing. Marshall is seriously trying to justify that a few hundred euros worth of parts and labor amounts to ~1000 € higher price tag? GTFO.

My recommendation is that nobody buys these amps. If you must have a Marshall badge on yours, buy the 1959HW or JCM800 and get it modded by a local tech. Or better yet, buy one of the great modded Marshalls made by a bunch of companies.

Prices are crazy, I agree, but getting the all same mods done locally isn't cheap either and usually money spent for mods won't be recovered if you reseller the amp.

Marshall is clearly trying to milk the cow buy I appreciate they've done something "new" at least.

I just want to know when Marshalls will be in stock again in the States. :hmm

:rofl

100%. What the Marshall Modded 800TM convinced me of is the need to just buy a stock 800 for 2k and hit it with a TS, (As Jobu intended) then put the “saved” $1,100 towards a Friedman Jose.

Got the JVM and JCM-800HS and @Whizzinby is spot on about OD1 Orange as well as the TS. I just need the Plex and JCM-900 to complete the collection. Then I can NAIL Hendrix, EVH and Navarro FTW. 15 year old me would be on the moon.

Oh, and a modernized JMP-1 and furthermore a Triaxis. Keep bringing on the reissues!
