Didn't help with hitting a curveball, so it probably won't make you a better player either. But would go down smooth. (If I was still in HS.)

Went to a local shop here in the UK today (to finally try out a Music Man Luke) and they had one of those 20w JCM900 combos for demoing.
It was fine! I don't really like what I've heard of the proper 900s so I'm probably not a great person to ask about finer details.
I really liked the 20w 800 and owned the 20w Jube for a while, but the 900 is just alright. The clean channel was nice!
The guitar was really good and I quite liked it! People love to go on about how "tiny and unplayable" the necks are on these, but the neck wasn't any smaller or thinner than the Cutlass I've got. It is a more pronounced V shape than the Cutlass' "soft V" and the frets are indeed quite small, but not unplayably so. If I ever bought one of these guitars I'd just earmark it for medium stainless frets when a re-fret is inevitably required. The guitar I played was second-hand and had the nut changed for some reason. It played fine with no buzzing etc, but whoever changed it did not do a good job - kind of a mess and looked terrible. Shame to mess up such a nice guitar like that. They were absolutely asking too much for it - especially with the hacked up nut.
