Lyrics don't matter

With a load of iron ore 26000 tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty…

Sheer banality, eh? What is this “Gitche Gumee” nonsense?

Much as I love it, it isn’t a song to tap your toes to or dance. For that, some big thumping bass and

She’s crazy like a fool
What about Daddy Cool

Will do just fine.

I've heard worse. It's Rock-N-Roll people, and my sense it is meant to capture the
Teenage Vibe of a kid learning (and loving) to play guitar. It does that. To me.

We can all find our poetry and/or Doctoral Theses elsewhere if we want that. :guiness

As much as I love and respect these guys, this song didn't do anything for me. Felt disconnected. Honestly, it doesn't matter what the lyrics are in this case if the groove and melody don't even grab me first.

Man, Vai and Satch have a loooooooooooooong history of collaborating with some of the greatest lyricists
of all time, too.

David Lee Roth.
David Coverdale.
Sammy Hagar.
Frank Zappa.

The Mt. Rushmore of lyrical depth, allegory, and use of metaphor. :chef

Roth and Zappa (who is juvenile in the right way I'd say?) (sincerely), yes. The other 2 (sincerely), hell no!:rofl

:rofl

They all dumbed down lyrical content in their own ways--with Roth being the least sucky, in my view.

If only Penises could vote, then maybe not so much.

Zappa often had his tongue firmly planted in his cheek, but he wasn't mining lyrical gold and
psychological depth in his narratives. He also wasn't all that funny.

:sofa

Yeah tbf; my desire to actually listen to Zappa's music is generally at a 0% level :bag So there's that. And 5150 to my ears is an awesome album, depsite "US Prime, Grade A stamped guaranteed!" being sung from the jump :nails:cop

I do think it can all be great fun, and then sometimes I want non-fun, Burn The World
Down Rage & Aggression, or Dystopian Dreams to reflect the Nightmare-ish scenarios
only a Metal God could delineate. :idk

:pitchforks

Pretty sure cliches are not going away anytime soon, though, in any genre. Be it Hip-Hop T & A,
Bro Country T & A, or Hair Metal T & A. :guiness

Maybe that is the common thread we are missing out on to unite us all?

Poundcake or Good Enough?

It's amazing how much the world just doesn't give a :poop:. Take a moment and think about the staying power this song has had:

Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like
