Looks like the Rockman is back

@2112 's video is up now as well.

Pete Thorn's as well.

And while I may applaud both guys for going through things in a sort of authentic fashion, given my personal taste, I stand with my previous comment: Most unwanted pedal ever on my list. Pure sounds of horror. And yes, I'm serious (and fwiw, just so you know, I always found Boston's sound to be absolutely cringeworthy, too).

It's definitely a sound you either like or don't. I'll end up with one of these for sure. The harmony guitars Pete demonstrated is one of its strong points, it's just a very vocal tone that cuts through in a mix. I used the Sustainor that way in the studio years ago, with very little tweaking in post.

Pete Thorn video leads sound great. Contrary to Sascha's thoughts for my tastes. Leon's vid sounds great. But Boston for me is just a big midrangey grossness. Just not my bag tonally; despite knowing the gargantuan amount of songwriting talent involved.

That was the genius of the sound. It sounded great and huge on car stereos and radios (I’m talking small mono ones). Listening devices have improved since then.

Thing is that midrange can also cut through with a band, especially if there’s more than one guitar or other instruments. I’ve seen a lot of guitarists (including myself) get lost in the mix because of eq. For the pedal, I’m most interested in the clean as a one step clean/comp/chorus because it cuts really well with a band.

Seriously, no problem from my end.

IF, and that is a big IF, because, I could EASILY see me saying "meh", and saving that money for something else, but IF I were to buy one, I'd plug it in, play my Boston/Rush/Def Leppard licks, along with some original stuff I wrote IN the 80's, and that would be it for a long while. I'd throw it in a drawer and probably wouldn't touch it again for 6 months.

It's the unobtanium for me. I had an X100 that I think I paid like, $130.00 for it, and you can't get them for that anymore, and I'm sure the old ones are a lot more fragile than this new pedal, so, it's nice to have a choice to have one again, and not pay through the nose for something that's plastic and 40 years old.

How much is this thing anyway? I see you reasoning 100%. And you have me at 80's Rush tones from the jump!

I'm still gonna do the Rockmodules tone clips one of these days - hey, I'm busy!

Lemme put it to you this way:

Even if the midrangey distorted tones don't blow up your skirt, CLN2 (clean 2) is THE BOMB.

Get it just for CLN2.
