Line 6 Helix Stadium

Btw, looking at the various pictures available, I fear that the switch LED rings have stayed the same. Does anyone remember whether there was any info about them anywhere?

They look to be the same as the OG floor Helices / Stomps? No complaints from me.

As someone who has only ever touched the Hx expression pedal to dust it off, this was an interesting read. In particular that little pre gain volume rollback trick seems neat.

I work my guitar volume a lot. How closely does what you’re describing mimic rolling down the guitar volume?

It actually works better, because it doesn't roll off any high end like a standard volume pot typically does. Plus, you can adjust it while playing.

On the Floor and Stomp, the LED rings turn completely invisible under critical lighting conditions. I have no idea how they couldn't improve that, especially as it's a wellknown thing. Even if not all folks seem to run into these issues, they do exist.
I had my Stomp embedded in my GT-1000 rig for a while, so they were next to each other, and played a few outdoor shows with that rig, too. The difference between the Stomp's LED rings and the LED stripes of the GT-1000 is night and day, no less. So, in case Boss is doing fine, how comes L6 can't?
This might in fact be a showstopper for me. One of the main reasons I sold the Floor was it's abysmal visibility (true for the display as well).

Because I'm old and thought it was funny, let's also include the Mesa/Boogie Abacus for no reason at all.

The MIDI Mate has been a great switcher for me back in the days. Made for live players with enough space between the switches - unlike that finnish modeler made with hobbits in mind.
I'm even considering buying a 2nd hand one again.

Very defenitely!

And on a pretty serious note: I could possibly even like the QC. But with those switch distance, it's a defnite no-go.
I love the QC. For me, it´s a formidable device. I´ve got four mates that own it, and it´s wonderful.

But... not for my feet and clumsiness. It´s maybe the only reason why I don´t buy it. If it was cheaper, maybe I could take the risk. But being a flagship, expensive device, nope.

I think people will see the appeal once the first hands-on videos start pouring and we can get a good sense of their relative sizes. The non-XL is just a tad smaller than an AX8 - a great compact form factor, without cramped footswitches.

Did you add stuff last night? I don't remember the POD Go and the Stomps. Holy shit the Stadium is perfect. The QC is cool, but the size is almost too small, and it's not worth losing the IEC.

Btw, how comes even the OG Stomp has two inputs but the vanilla Stadium only comes with one? That's pretty dissapointing.
Well, you see, HX Stomp was designed to be a stompbox for your pedalboard, not a mini Helix. (Same with HX Effects, DL4 MkII, and HX One.) There's an expectation that stereo effects might come before it—hence, stereo input. Conversely, Helix was designed to be a multieffect where if you're running any pedals before it, they're almost always going to be mono.

Non-XL Stadium can still accommodate stereo inputs via the effects returns or S/PDIF.

You don't have to like it, but there's always method to our seeming madness.
Are the dimensions in this pic reliable? Are the footswitches in the Stadium similarly separated as in the QC?
67mm center-to-center (same as Stomp, Stomp XL, and POD Go). Helix Floor, LT, and Control are 70mm center-to-center.

As someone who has only ever had the Stomp, it didn't even occur to me that the larger models didn't / wouldn't have dual guitar inputs lol. So basically, Stadium XL, Axe FX III, QC, and HX Stomp have two guitar inputs, while Stadium, FM9, FM3, TMP, and Helix / LT / Rack don't, right?

I can count on one hand the number of times I've put a QC on the floor and used the encoders as foot switches anyway. That would be a tragic waste of the UI as a whole. (I expect to feel the same way about the Stadium. Actually, probably more so.)

Here's both Stadium I/O panels from Sweetwater's product pics:

I know it's too late .. but in the future the headphone jack belongs in the front IMO. The back panel placement seems to be becoming more common on physical units. Even audio interfaces, which is mind blowing. There's probably a noise/build/optimization reason for putting it on the back. But the damn thing belongs on the front.
