Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Anyone here using Stadium in a loud FRFR or guitar cab scenario?

I’m wondering how this uptick in responsiveness and realism presents itself sonically and feel wise in those conditions. I’m not talking about near fields…I mean like something that could clear a drum set.

I’ve done some gigs straight to FOH with Helix and generally am a fan. I’m wondering if you all are happier on the new device.

I need to connect my Stadium to my RCF wedges and check it out soon.

Atomic CLRs count? Sounds great.

This was the place in the old editor (had to grab the pic from Google as my Stomp is on a bandbus):

Would be kinda weird if that didn't exist anymore - but maybe it went to another location.

Ignore shitty signal chain. It's not there as of now.

Also; confirmed that Stomp mode pages Snapshot Toggle to last snapshot does not work. It does on the combo pages or snapshot pages.

Settings min and max values should be straight forward but setting them to auto-engage correctly for me is not quite there. Yay?

Auto engage is connected to the bypass function. As soon as you find that parameter, you should be set.

When I have time later tonight, I'll try and sit down and write it out for you and the minimum number of steps

Obviously my opinion but it’s a design flaw that the real physical Marshalls didn’t at least have a bright cap switch on them. Leo eventually figured this out on the Supers and Twins and it makes all the difference.

If I’m using my Tele or Strat into drives and a cleanish SL, I’m more than likely killing the bright cap or switching down to a really low value. If I’m wanting my Les Paul to scream, I need that cap. I’ve not found a pedal that gives me back what I lose when the cap is clipped in that scenario.

Bright caps can be your best friend or biggest nemesis. Context is everything.

I always thought that if you are hearing the bright cap it was user error, solved by returning the volume knob to the proper position on 10...or 11 if you are Nigel.

Seriously though, I agree 100%. In fact, on a Marshall/clone these days I would add a switch with 2 bright cap options plus off. It's like $2 in parts and 5 minutes of work. It might take a little longer for L6 to code, but totally worth it since it is a common enough mod.

Used the Stadium at rehearsal last night instead of the AFX3 or QC; worked very well, even with the poly capo on pretty much every song. It actually felt a lot more responsive compared to the AFX3. I'm impressed!
Cool! What’s your rehearsal setup like? Stadium XL -> wedges or are you using a guitar cab?

Stadium into modded FR12 here. It's great \m/
I’m really kicking myself for not having chased one of these before the prices went up. The hilarity of Agoura 2203 and vicious IIC+ tones emanating from a little tweed 5e3 looking amp kinda makes me still want to do it.

Agoura is making me reconsider my live setup. I’d used Helix with an RCF wedge out of convenience for a couple shows and rehearsals. It always sounded surprisingly great in the mix but wasn’t always fun to play. While it’s still not gonna feel like a guitar cab, I do want to revisit all this just to see what’s up with the new amps. Maybe I can pull out the wedge this weekend. I’m starting to poke at maybe a used matrix power amp as well.

The Thomann stock date for XL now says 4-5 weeks. Is this date just getting pushed back, or are people pre-ordering? Maybe I'm naive, but I've been waiting for it to be in stock.

I've just tried mine out at home. In my office I have it hooked up to a Friedman ASC-10.

Wife was out so i was alone. Just for grins, I cranked it up loud. I got it loud enough I had to move out of the office (left the amp in there - I just needed some distance). Hard to quantify how loud I got it, but it was loud - as loud as I've cranked my Badlander 50 or Friedman Runt. I just wanted to see what it sound and felt like. Maybe not stage volume with a drummer, but it was pretty dang loud (i'm sure people outside could hear it).

I'll tell you - it felt awesome. Definitely better than any prior attempts with Helix (last I used Helix diligently was pre-3.5 so keep that in mind). But the agoura amps and effects and everything I tried just sounded and felt like I was playing an amp. I knew immediately at that point that selling my FM9 to fund it was the right move for me. Because it sounds and feels great (quiet and at volume) and is super fun to configure and play with "on device" - which is what I really needed / wanted..
