Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Oh man, you should see the PMs he sent me. I killed him with kindness and he called me a Karen.

The dude who whined about companies pushing back in any way whatsoever. The dude who claimed to need a safe space from "stalking." The dude who threatened to speak to my manager. But I'M a Karen. The irony is... deafening.
As stated, a complete and total clown.

Kudos to you for reacting gracefully. I was considering whether or not giving him a piece of my mind was worth getting banned from TGP. I put him on ignore instead.

What a tool.

[...] One competitive product hits 4 ms with a single drive, amp, and cab (according to their own specs) and no one seems to complain.

Speaking on behalf a large number of folks on this forum, I can assure you that getting banned from TGP is not only worth it, is in fact a side additional benefit, to giving someone your piece of mind.

I've been kicked off at least three times over the years but they let me back on after some time off. I keep an account to have an option to sell gear but I don't peruse beyond the classifieds. Getting the boot is overrated.

In the end it's the owners of that forum's rules. If the people who post, the forum rules, and their booting of people unjustly pisses you off so bad then I say don't go there but it seems people like to rage read.

TGP doesn’t bug me at all.

Internet guitarists with strong opinions who just want to nitpick and argue for the sake of it…that’s a different story.

The only time I ever visit TGP is when a) I'm sufficiently bored, and then b) one of you tells me not to go look at what's happening there.

Okay, this bug seems fairly serious. I have a patch for Handle With Care that has two paths (one acoustic, one dirtier, both set to Guitar 2) each with a volume pedal set to Exp 2. The volume pedal wasn't working, so I went to hit the tuner so I could plug in my guitar without a burst of static. But before I could plug in, it went to the splash screen. Now, every time I turn the volume pedal up or down on that patch, I get a splash screen. It's shorter than the initial boot, and I can still play while it's up (there is a brief interruption in sound). Rebooting didn't help. And the last time I tried it before I went to post this, it got stuck with the X in the center of the screen. Other patches seem to work fine after I rebooted. I'm a little afraid to go back to that patch. The behavior persisted even after I reimported from my Helix Floor.

I have a video, but I can't get it to load here (it's a .mov file). Any ideas? Should I just try to recreate that patch from scratch?

In case anyone else is experiencing this, someone from Line 6 reached out to me via DM and had me send them the patch. They were able to isolate the problem to a MIDI CC being assigned to the expression pedal. Once I cleared that assignment, the issue went away. I pulled up another patch that had that assignment and had the same issue, so it appears to be a consistent bug.

Once more, Line 6 customer service and dedication is outstanding!

The quoted portion of your post above is exactly the point. Getting booted isn't some badge of honor. But it is a hard-line in the sand to stop visiting a place that serves little purpose anymore and so, for me and a lot of others, has been a good thing.

All corners of TGP seem to wind up mostly be related to arguing/debating a ranking of gear. Which can be useful until it's not.

Pull that Z pre value down to get rid of that woof. Much better for me after that!

I've been crushing on the Ecstasy Red similarly and wanted to tighten it up more without using a boost. I'll give that a try.

Related, I kept coming back to the REVV channels because Cliff said he really like them and that they had a Marshall/Soldano hybrid vibe - which I didn't necessarily hear on either the FM9 or on the old school Helix a ton. I did manage to get closer by hitting the old HX Purple channel with a huge mid-boost in front. Still wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Last night, I stumble upon the "Purple Nurple" factory preset. It's got four snapshots (Push, OD1, OD2 and Lead) that are kinda laid out like a JVM410. More importantly, tho, it has the Agoura REVV Purple going into a single 4x12 Greenback 25 cab with a ribbon mic.

I start playing the opening to "Balls to the Wall" and it was like the clouds parted and I heard THAT SOUND. I think it's the one you like too, JT.

I ended up turning the Contour switch on (which was never modeled for Helix) for even more mids and added a second Greenback 25 cab with a 421 mic to preserve the "Kerrang!".

It's my new #1 rhythm tone on Stadium. Couldn't make the amp and cab settings as favorites fast enough

Highly encourage all "modded Marshall" and JVM410 fiends to give it a try!

I'll have to give that one a go. I've been slowly going through factory presets and finding some new to me gems as well as grabbing some fx blocks dialed in for the greasy stuff and adding them to my favorites. I have not been able to bond with the Revv yet but it could entirely be me. I also need to find a new cab block to play with beyond the Mandarin I've been using 24x7.

Going to recommend the Cartographer 4x12 with the Eminence Governor and C90 speakers. I don't think the mic defaults are great, but if you switch them to a 57/121 or 421/160 or some similar combo of dynamic or rhythm mic......it really comes alive.

Just be sure to back the ribbon mic to about 3 inches away and move that dynamic mic right up to the cap edge or dead on the speaker.

I was looking for a C90 the other day. I am not doing dual cabs right now. I just plop a 57 on close to the sweet spot and move it around till I hit paydirt. I've been sticking with 2x12s probably because my own "journey" from IRL "let's get an oversized 4x12" to "let's grab a closed back 112 that doesn't have a bunch of bass getting in the way" and those cabs seem to "translate" to that thought process (however valid it may or may not be) quite nicely?

I get it and you might find the additional 4x12 Greenback with a different mic that I suggested to be too much. Make it your own, but start with the REVV Purple/4x12 Greenback cab combo, fasho.

I will say I think the C90 is the ideal speaker for Mesa high-gain amps (even moreso than the trusty V30) and it pairs nicely with the HX Mark IV Lead channel.

I like it on Stadium more than I ever did on Helix, anyway FWIW.
