Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Play your show. Come back to this. End of discussion.

Hey man. I did mean to respond to this, just forgot.

So it's obviously about choice at the end of the day, and I totally don't need to run both. But the Ventris has its own flavour. The RV-5 has its own flavour. The VP4 has its own flavour. As does the Meris MercuryX; although to be honest, lately I'm only using one sound on the Meris that I could definitely approximate and get very close to on the VP4 - kind of a shimmery thing, but where the shimmer isn't too obvious. Smooth, with high frequencies rolled off, so it just sits behind my guitar.

I'm super picky when it comes to delays and reverbs. Most drive pedals I'm like... ehh.. yeah, sounds good... or ehhh... sounds bad. But delays and reverbs, there's soooo many cool variations you can get.

Cool thanks! I need to pull it back out and fool around with it - along with a lot of other pedals I need to revisit.

I haven’t touched it since I dialed my sounds in on the fm9. I replicated my main Ventris sounds there and haven’t been back since. Might see if I can find some inspiration in there though it did have some cool stuff in it. I didn’t think there was much difference between them, so it surprised me you were looking to run both. I need to take a run at it and see what I find.

I’m also just generally toying with the idea of significantly expanding the rig.

D

Thank god. Go play and quit yer bitchin. Today is a day for turkey, football, and naps.
Today is just a bunch of 23ms cycles put together one after another.

Helix Stadium XL Poly Capo comparison - all set to downshift 2 semi tones.

Looks like the Poly Capo trades off more artifacts during the attack instead of warbling during sustain - this particular example kinda amplifies it - when playing normally I do hear the attack artifacts but don't seem as pronounced.

Honestly, even the "worst" sample sounded more than good enough for me. If someone isn't satisfied with neither of these algorithms, I would just suggest tuning his guitar down as needed.

I got logged out by Stadium today. :rofl

I’m unbothered by a couple launch bugs though. All good.

Spent more time with the Agoura Plexi. I think the vintage and classic rock guys (Hendrix, Page, EJ) will love this model. I’m able to stiffen the amp up a bit by turning the bass and sag all the way down, z pre/post all the way up, and running the bright channel with mids maxed, treble and presence at noon. It’s still too squishy and too spitty for what I’m looking for and if you push the treble and presence both those issues get worse. The amp basically totally falls apart, especially with humbuckers.

Again - I don’t believe this to be an accuracy issue so much as the behavior of the amp they modeled. Maybe we can eventually get a 50 watter 70s spec (pretty please??)…

I have an AM4 arriving tomorrow and want to compare how Fractal has handled the Superlead in their platform. It seems like they have half a dozen different versions, which is probably overkill but I’m crossing my fingers for a good 70s Superlead in there.

It will be fun having access to Fractal’s expansive collection while L6 starts ramping up on Agoura. It’s going to be exciting times here for a while. Agoura is still impressing me.

Are you going to put the AM in the Stadium loop?
I don’t want to get Fractal on my Line 6.

In seriousness, I suppose but unlikely? I view Stadium as a flagship unit so I’m really hoping to eventually find everything I need there. That said, I realize I bought a brand new flagship and it might be a bit before it’s finished cooking.

The reality MAY be that the AM4 meets all my gigging needs and the Stadium pulls living room duty until it’s amp selection aligns more closely with my preferences. Agoura is amazing so I really hope we see some other Superlead option and some Mesa gear.

Regarding different eras/models of Plexi’s, I think once Proxy is available we’ll have pretty much any iteration Marshall we could ever want.

I’m not as much into the 70’s era Plexi’s, but the three best ‘Plexi’s’ I’ve ever played are the new 1959 Modified, which has some gain clipping options that get it into more aggressive territory, the Super 100 JH, which is a limited edition thing they did in the mid 2000’s (a clone of one of Hendrix’s actual amps, which is more like a 100w JTM45), and the Bogner Goldfinger Super Lead 45. I can’t wait to capture these things for Stadium.

I also have a ‘76 50w JMP that sounds awesome, too, but I haven’t spent as much time with it as the others.

But I gravitate more toward the late 60’s thing that they modeled in the Brit Plexi.

Karlis at Amalgam has some killer Marshall’s as well, and he does a really great job of capturing them. I’m sure his catalog will end up available for Stadium.

In the meantime, you could always pick up a TONEX one pretty cheap and run it in the loop, and have access to all kinds of amps that will most likely never end up as models. I’ve done that quite a bit with Helix and it works great.

Do you guys think you’d enjoy trying captures of amps, or would you prefer Line 6 Agoura models? I suppose time will tell, but I know players can be kinda split on that topic. I love captures, but I pretty much just play the captures I make of my own amps, ha.

Haha, I was just considering pairing an AM4 with my HX Stomp. That would be a great combo.

Sorry, wrong thread, no stadium here :sofa

To L6’s credit the Plexi model really nails the 60s Plexi vibe. I think it also speaks volumes about Agoura that you can tell what era Plexi it is by playing it. Pretty cool stuff.

Lots of us here are riding the Tonex train. I have a lot of the amalgam stuff and would probably pursue some of his V2 caps to “fill gaps” in Stadium. Or I’ll just capture my own 1959. I love captures.

I like both honestly , the cool thing about captures is that you can have a lot more variety your not waiting on a specific model
The other obvious thing is some one who has a favourite amp and sound and settings , it’s an easy way to get that and have access to it
