Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

I was under the assumption that I could import setlists from my OG Helix into Stadium, but Stadium editor is not recognizing the file type. I’m on a PC. Has anyone else tried this?

So at least 3 guys have it now.

Let's have some reviews then - what's the concensus. I need to know whether I should open the box or just return directly to GC! :p
I opened the box. It connected to my wifi flawlessly and is downloading 1.1. So far so good is my contribution to the consensus, lol

Talks about it here in the manual:

Fake news but looks nice

I still wonder if they went with a new footswitch design because having to send off my stomp 2-3 times to get it fixed was not fun.

Anybody had trouble with wifi on their Stadium. I had to pick mine up from my music room and set it down right next to my router before it was able to download 1.1 (even though I use the same wifi on a phone, a laptop, and a desktop PC in the same music room even further away from the router than the Stadium was. I'll try it again when the 1.1 update is complete, but I also could not get it working with the Stadium 1.1 app because it seemed the Stadium couldn't deal with ~75% wifi signal strength.

What do you guys think of this?

Thanks for doing this video, great job with diving into the settings and showing what effect they have. Not only did your video demonstrate exactly what I was hearing in all other Agoura demos, I also agree with your opinion on having a preference for the old model. Your descriptions were spot on. The legacy models sounds much more like how I’d dial the amp and don’t need to resort to messing with deeper parameters to get there.

I found the Legacy models to be most of the way there in their modelling - differences to the real amps were generally quite minor and didn’t need a lot of work to match. Agoura models seem to be further away from the real deal, and if they measure more accurately I have to wonder how they’re being tested. I really thought Agoura would just hone in on the last 3% of differences but instead they seem to have brought some very different tones to the high gain amps. The distortion character is really different and it doesn’t seem to be able to be dialled out, even at lower MV settings.

Everyone has their preference on what they like, and are welcome to it. I don’t think the Agoura models sound very good or accurate to the real deal so far on high gain models, given how close the old ones were. I’m guessing it was fairly straightforward to make the old EVH model sound like your real EVH - do you think the Agoura models can get as close? And if so, do you think it would take more work or less work to get there?

You and I are aligned - that's why I'd made the earlier comment about the older HX models sounding better to my ears compared to Agora for high-gain. Jon's video kinda confirms it.

I stand by what I've stated before - the older HX models are some of the most accurate models. They modeled those with some real experimental rigor and often when I compared clips in the past - it was the Helix that was most true to the real amp and not Fractal (this applied across almost all amps except some Fenders).

Now, I'm not sure where to go from here. With Agoura, they're taking an approach closer to how Fractal models - it'll probably take them some time to dial it all in a little better and maybe refine their model. I hope that they keep it all physics-based versus applying a bunch of fudge factors / modifiers. I trust Helix more than the others in this regard as it's a pretty large group of people.

One thing I can't tell from here is 'feel'. We're reliant on Jon's comments for that.

For me personally, I don't do metal and for the tones that I like, I've had to swing 'Sag' HIGHER in the past to get the feel right (interestingly, this is when playing through a cab; when playing through studio monitors, I didn't need to touch them). For heavy sounds as Jon was demoing - he seemed to be dialing 'Sag' as low as it would go. It'd be interesting to hear more comments from @GuitarJon

@JiveTurkey didn't you have an issue.

Also, don't love the shades of QC not connecting to my Wi-Fi 😂
I think my problem was a driver installation sequence issue on one laptop. My other PC is running fine with it for a second day in a row. We'll see but it seems solid now.

Pebble Phaser and Grey Flanger are good starting points for both of those effects. Liquifier Chorus is a good one as well.

Tried the Bogner Red and it is good stuff.

Same switch or different ones? I don’t think overall that component has an unusually high failure rate.
They were different ones that failed at different times. Idk man it comes up if you search around here or TOP. Having to send mine off once a year kind of seems high when I've never had to for any other pedal I've ever owned but maybe that's my own luck.
