Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

The preset has been saved. And saved again. Still green. Rebooted, still green.
Does the foot switch LED for that preset show as green as well? You can manage this in that menu either by tapping "Rename Preset" which gives you the option to select foot switch LED color or by tapping "Manage Presets", selecting some presets, and batch recoloring.

That's exactly what it was. I had no idea that was even a feature.

What are you guys playing your Stadiums through? I have it plugged into a CLR Atomic MKii and just tried it through my Powercab +. Preferring the CLR as the Powercab seems to add a little more high end but still sounds great.

Can someone test out if the global eq works? If I make any changes and then exit, it seems to revert to whatever the previous settings were. I'm not sure if it's something that changed in the update, but it was working fine before.

I use Logic. Moises is probably the best I've found. There are definitely quality differences between the various services, and I suspect people will still use whatever they prefer. We include Yamaha's Extrack for those who don't have access to other stem separation services; it's currently limited to 5 fixed stems: drums, bass, guitar, vocals, and other; other services can split rhythm guitar from lead guitar and lead vocals from background vocals.

Extrack stem separation requires an update to the Stadium app and web services. Hopefully sometime before NAMM, but no promise is implied. In the meantime, yeah, use whatever service you want.
I've been using Moises - I think you can use the basic stem seperation and export on a free account.

Loving the Showcase feature; now I can finally show the drummer how the intros are SUPPOSED to go....

Many thanks to both DG80 and Digital Igloo - I mentioned when I joined this forum that I’d been happy living under my rock for several years (same modeller for 13 years and you fine people seem to be juggling the most modern 3 each on a regular basis) and as such I’d genuinely never heard of Moises. I tried the free version last night - it offered me 30% off a 1 year subscription if I signed up within 24 hours. That kind of ‘in your face’ sales pressure doesn’t usually work on me. In this case, I signed up to the top tier one 20 minutes after I’d tried the free version. It is genuinely jaw dropping. I’ve actually got some time off work now and I’m really looking forward to some quality time with my family and with getting some backing tracks over into my Stadium. I haven’t gigged in a few years but I’ll be putting some of the regulars we used to play in there later and reliving old times.

It’s good to know that the Yamaha version will be helping out on the Stadium soon - Eric saying it won’t (currently!) split out the lead and rhythm meant that getting Moises for a year makes sense. This time next year I can make the call on whether to go again once I can see how the one we have here has developed.

Having the ability to play along to backing tracks within the unit really is game changing fun stuff for me for where I’m at with my guitar playing these days. I hope to gig again one day (who knows?) but in the meantime this will be awesome fun, a fantastic practice tool and it’ll help me learn new songs. Which is good for me anyway whether I gig again or not. Also got the bare bones of a new song written because of a particular sound that fell out of the thing last week - I haven’t written anything new in forever so I’m hoping to work on that and get somewhere. We’ll see. I’m glad I jumped on board with the XL - I’ve seen the comments about it not being quite there with some of the amps etc. Fortunately for me, I don’t have loads of other amps or modellers so I am not in the position to directly compare - for my tastes (based on my own experience) I’m genuinely delighted with that side of it so far as well. I’m a happy customer.

I’ve been using a pair of Neumann KH120 which I’m really happy with. The room is acoustically treated (home made but it’s not bad) and I’m running room correction software (Sonarworks) because, even though it’s treated, the room is acoustically problematic….. or crap would be an adequate. I’ve got a 1x12 with a green back in there plus a power amp - I haven’t tried that year. To be honest, the room is so iffy that the ‘amp in the room’ tone everyone wants is not what it’s cracked up to be for me….. you mostly hear the cabinet but you also get the fabric of the universe resonating around you.

I've had good results with Logic's stem separation tool too, albeit only used a tiny bit. Will have to try that on a couple of songs.

But I must say, just streaming some backing tracks from my phone over blutooth is working great. I've even recorded that to Logic to share with a buddy.

After sinking ~10 hours into this thing, I must say I'm loving how this thing feels and sounds. There's a visceral feel to it. I swapped the Deluxe for the Super in one patch, and the changes feel realistic in a way I haven't felt before with modeling. Making me miss playing tube amps less (but also more in a weird nostalgic way.)

Another thing I've noticed - with Helix and other modelers I've tried, changing guitars meant new bespoke patches, just the way it is, so I used to have different banks or setlist for different guitars. Depending on how different the guitars you use are, that's probably going to be ideal with Stadium too.

But today I plugged in my Revstar and played through a Deluxe I used my HSS on yesterday and it sounded great. Sure, I could adapt the eq and gain a bit to make it even better, but it reminded me of how it felt to plug into my tube amps. I didn't feel like I had to "start over" with this new instrument in hand to start over. This probably would be different with a guitar with screaming hot pickups, but I still found it interesting.

Can't wait for this thing to evolve. I know there are many wishes, especially to get this as stable as possible. USB connectivity to Editor is my biggest right now, since my wifi is dodgy atm. Other than that, I really hope that the GSG and Matchless are high on the list of amps to aguourafy!

I had someone else confirm this, so it appears to be a bug. If you change anything in the global EQ, the changes are applied and you can hear them, but after exiting the matrix mixer and then going back in, visually it reverts to whatever settings you had prior to 1.2. It appears to be something in 1.2 that caused it based on the timing of when I started noticing it.

How do I get .wav files for showcase?
If you're on a Mac, you can do it from the Music app (formerly iTunes):
  1. Drag your songs/tracks into the Music app (if not already there).
  2. From Music Settings, click the Files tab and then Import Settings.
  3. Set Import Using to "WAV Encoder."
  4. Under Setting, click "Custom..." and set Sample Rate to "48.000 kHz" and Sample Size to "16-bit." Click OK.
  5. Select your songs/tracks and select File > Convert > Create WAV Version.
  6. Select File > Show in Finder. Drag the WAV files into the Helix Stadium Song import window.
I'm sure there's an easy way to do in on PCs as well, but I don't have one.

Through a VHT 2/50/2 and and Zilla cab with V30s. I played for several months through an EV PXM12, bit once I got the cab, the wedge sounded plastic and boxy in comparison. I still have it though.

I don't see a way to use showcase live with a band without using at least a click track.

If you don't tide your self to a click track & a timeline, anything you do with showcase (changing snapshots, sending midi commands, hot keys, ECT) can be done without it. As far as I know.

For bands that use a click track cool things can be done.

In my opinion showcase is the greatest addition in the helix world.
I think having the ability in showcase to load individual tracks or in the future do stems great for jams where we might not have a full complement of people.

Don’t have a vocalist, no problem load up the song, drop all the other instruments and go to town.

Prior to showcase, I was using a iPad to do this, but it’s nice having one less thing to drag around .

I’ve recorded some bass parts to songs and rhythm sections, then just play lead over it while my buddy keeps up on the drums.

When your middle aged it hard enough getting two people together to play for an hour.
