The particular Fractal user quirk is they buy a FAS whatever then proceed to expect every piece of gear released from every other manufacturer to be instantly ported to it.
It wasn't meant to be provocative so much as just what I see. In the same way you go to a FAS thread and people are calling for the death of amps and I'm like "How are you going to request the new Friedman Andy Dick Signature model to be ported over if everyone stops making amps?"
Yep, then there’s some of us that are old enough to have played everything under the sun, in our bedrooms, in band rehearsals, on stage, in studios, and know what’s good to us when we hear it. More musicians should have more experiences, absolutely.
I like the Badonk and the 5150 and the Recto (I am betting I would like them morerer in Agoura, though). I'll end up with a Stadium of some sort I am sure. I want the regular model though without the exp so that's a little farther down the road.

Yeah I didn’t really like the Helix, I bought the HX Stomp twice because I just loved the form factor, and I had the HX effects for awhile too. Comparing the models in the HX to fractal amps and effects, it was just night and day better on Fractal. The Fractal amps sounded like my real tube amps and the effects put you in a space in a way I didn’t get from the Helix effects. I will say I love the functionality of the HX effects over the VP4, but the effects quality of the VP4 keeps it on my board in place of a HX effects.
Historically; I agree completely. Though my last go round with the Stomp for FX and routing was great and I did feel like there was a good step up from the time I had it before? I think the Stadium is definitely going to continue that upward trajectory \m/
That makes sense. It’s been 2-3 years since I had a Stomp and I’m sure there have been firmware updates that improved it.
Won't lie—Helix's older Hybrid Cab engine held us back (and we're not bringing it forward to Stadium). The new cabs from 3.5 sound and respond so much better, a lot of people are foregoing IRs. Plus, we've improved a bunch of other things behind the scenes.
I’ve tried the HX effects through my Adam Audio studio speakers with onboard cab modeling and also with IRs I know and trust, through the FX loop of a JP2C and through a Mesa 2:90 through a 1999 Mesa OS 4x12. I no way did I find the high gain models in the HX stomp up through roughly 3 years ago to be my cup of tea.

I think you’re onto something with what you’ve built into the Stadium. When the non-pedal version releases early next year I’m going to give it a go. Obviously an HX Effects-style variant would be great, and who doesn’t love a 1 or 2 space rack piece (3 is far too big IMO), but I think this device and ecosystem is a dramatic step up.
Without divulging too many trade secrets, I'm curious why? Was it a quality thing? A storage thing? Lack of DSP meaning you had to go one way rather than another with the inherent convolution techniques?
"Hardcore studio interface" seems to be the sticking point here, though. There are plenty of home studio types for whom their high end guitar modeler is perfectly adequate, who might not want to add another piece of hardware, more cables, more configuration software, etc. Helix and QC have both been great for me as studio hubs, they just tend to get almost permanently embedded.
