Line 6 Helix Stadium Pre-Launch Discussion

Agree completely. I think that’s where the demo fell short in spots. When he wasn’t feeling it, he had no ability to take control and dial it in to taste.

It just got caught in between being a device/feature demo and an artist showcase.

It’s not the end of the world. It was great to see the device in use for an extended period of time.

Like I said when I called this an unforced error: I don't think a product person from Line 6 should be the primary driver in any demo. Lead the artist to Focus View, and let them experience the incredibly thoughtful and intuitive UI for themselves by dragging between zones.

Demos for this product shouldn't be Ben or anyone else randomly turning knobs or randomly picking amps. The great thing about Stadium is that it makes searching for tones or inspiration way easier and more efficient. Use the next-level Search thing to find appropriate presets. If you're starting from a blank one, start with Focus Zones on whatever amp you pick and show us that. Let's see you dragging the mic around the cab appropriately too.

FWIW, don't throw out your Helix. From what Ben said in that video - they were doing a lot of work in the past on Helix models measuring voltages and currents at specific circuit nodes and aligning them to modeled signals and voltages. VERY few people were doing that to that extent on every single amp model put out.

Now they have a more generalized, mathematical circuit model, but possibly with better modeled components within that circuit and more modeling components added (wiring capacitance etc.). Additionally, it's a more sophisticated model capturing more of the interactions resulting in the feel improvements.

There's nothing groundbreaking here - this is where Fractal has been at. It's quicker to get an amp modeled using Agoura as a result - however, we can't discount the huge amount of effort that went into every amp model on Helix. That was a detailed measured fit.

I wish demos were done more focused on the player and a more case by case thing. Let the player dictate what he wants, what he/she is used to and try to make some actual music. To have a guy like Litteri just to noddle while someone else does the tweaking is a bit lame IMO. When doing stuff like this just let the player try to replicate the stuff they actually use and are familiar with. The Dweezil one was far better in this sense, but ultimately not the greatest choice at this time given his odd tone choice.

The official one was far better, some cool sounding stuff. Still didn't hear anything that made me go WOW yet though.

I made that one. The settings were that, pretty common for the VH thing. The IR was the hard part. The starting point was a Redwirez one that I eq'd quite heavily.

Your video basically made me buy the Helix in 2018

I didn't realize that was you. It sounds great!

I wish we had hands-on demos of the regular Helix Stadium, even if it's not releasing anytime soon. That's the unit I'm really psyched about.

My guess is and you probably can’t share this yet
Is some accessible deeper parameters like NFB , Variac
Power Tube Type
Nothing like this has been visible in the menus as they’ve scrolled through amps in the demos. Are you thinking hype is manipulating hidden parameters?

I’d love to have controls for things like depth, NFB, bright cap values, etc.
