Yeah, that was a miss. Too much bass knob, too much normal drive. Wrong mic. This isn’t a hard tone to get, even on today’s Helix.Maybe not 'modern high gain', but the video stated an intent to build a 'brown' tone, with Mark playing very creditable interpretations of Eddie's licks. IMO, the tone wasn't there. Maybe Ben doesn't do 'brown'.

Yes, they were taking the wrong approach on the amp block and it was too warm and laid back. They should have started with the bright channel only and everything except maybe presence dimed and gone from there. When Mark wanted a bit more push, they resorted to adding a boost instead of trying to make the amp more aggressive. Otherwise, it was a pretty good tone even if it wasn't nailing the brown sound.Yeah, that was a miss. Too much bass knob, too much normal drive. Wrong mic. You would think one of the five Plexi focus zones would be a "Brown Sound"/most knobs on 10 config with the Sag cranked to hell too. Line 6 even put out a pretty decent tutorial on this for the OG Helix:
Hopefully they get someone doing actual modern metal tones when they do and not ‘80s butt metal or thrash tones. I want to hear it with a guitar tuned to double drop fuck.
Maybe the lack of all br00tal tones is a sign that Line 6 has been moving forward to satisfy real musicians.
Man, it hasn’t smelled like TGP here for a few weeks and here ya go stinkin’ it up!!!!!
Agreed. I’m actually really excited to get it and NOT hook it up to my computer. No need for a computer to update it. No need for a computer editor to dial in sounds. The cab block capabilities will eliminate the need for my IRs.I didn't really love the higher gain tones here, but the other ones sounded very nice.
But I'm really impressed by the thoughtful workflow and user experience design of the HX Stadium. Line6 is again the company to emulate for the next generation of modelers.

This is 8 yrs old, but I think also gets in the ballpark. In the comments, he mentions everything dimed except presence.
I wish demos were done more focused on the player and a more case by case thing. Let the player dictate what he wants, what he/she is used to and try to make some actual music. To have a guy like Litteri just to noddle while someone else does the tweaking is a bit lame IMO. When doing stuff like this just let the player try to replicate the stuff they actually use and are familiar with. The Dweezil one was far better in this sense, but ultimately not the greatest choice at this time given his odd tone choice.
The official one was far better, some cool sounding stuff. Still didn't hear anything that made me go WOW yet though.
I made that one. The settings were that, pretty common for the VH thing. The IR was the hard part. The starting point was a Redwirez one that I eq'd quite heavily.
